I ordered a bunch of CT shirts and have found that they were typically lasting only 12 to 18 months. Quality seems to have taken a hit and prices have gone way up, used to be 3 for $99. Having to replace 3-4 soon.

Any good alternatives?

Spread collar, traveler/no iron, Slim/tailored fit.

The Nordstrom no iron dress shirts are nice, not too pricey, but more than what you are currently spending

Can find them at Nordstrom Rack for cheaper as well.

are they the same shirt though? A lot of times the have lower quality versions for the "rack" or "off 5th" versions.

Found this out the hard way.

I have a tailor through Tom James that provides my suits and shirts. Pricey, but they are very good.

I hate to hear that about CT shirts. Mine have been surprisingly good quality but it's been a number of years since I've ordered new ones. Is anyone else seeing this? Was just about to order a new round

I'm in the same boat. Mine are great, but I haven't ordered any in about 2 years.

Thought the same. Always love those responses.

"Hyundai has really dropped in quality...what similar options are there?"

Have you considered Maybach?

I have not noticed a drop in CT quality. It's the only brand I wear. I have 6 shirts, 3 chinos, 1 sport jacket, 1 suit, belt, shoes. I will continue to buy from them. I know when I order the clothing will be consistent and fit me just right.

May not be what you are looking for but I use Land End. Can still order sleeve length and neck size rather than S, M, L

Sorry, but don't have good alternatives. Many brands are worse quality than they used to be and cost more.

I noticed a drop in CT quality a few years ago, but the shirts have still held up. They feel flimsier and less premium than they used to, but I haven't had to get rid of any of them earlier than expected. You can also still find the 3 for $99 deals, but have to look for them / wait to get it. I would struggle to pay higher prices for them.

I'm not a big guy and American companies just don't sell as good of slim fit clothes as European companies. Was tired of how blousey American slim fit shirts were.

100% agree with the shirt fit comment. I get the extra slim fit from CT.

I'll second the drop in quality with CT. Last round of shirts I bought didn't even last a year. Ripped a hole in the left elbow of every shirt in the batch. Previous batch lasted years.

Agree on the quality dropping. I notice many more loose threads and fraying than I ever did before, and they used to last me YEARS. Now I have some that are worn out within months.

As an FYI in regard to the elbows, if you're dry cleaning the non-iron shirts, that will lead to the material breaking down and cause that to happen. I learned that the hard way on some of my favorite shirts.

Brooks Brothers

They make nice traditional broadcloth and pinpoint shirts for folks who don't want the formaldehyde in the iron free shirts. Selection is more limited, though.

Proper Cloth is a waste of money and time imo. Decent materials but I went through a fit and refit with them. Both resulted in shirts that fit worse than most brands off the rack. It was a lot of wasted time and money.

If you want a really nice fit, you are better off either finding a brand that offers a few different general options (long fit, short fit, athletic, slim, extra slim etc) or just buying a shirt and getting it altered.

I have been wearing button ups daily for over 10 years, and most of my shirts are even older. For the first time ever, I had a hole rip in an elbow recently.. and it was a ~20 year old shirt.

I've never paid more than maybe $50 for any shirt I have. I also have never bought online; I typically buy at department stores or kohls.

To my point; What the hell kind of **** quality shirt is getting a hole in an elbow after ~15-20 wears?

Does this go for their blazers too? I've almost bought one on numerous occasions...but have yet to pull the trigger.

Whatever CT is making now fits that bill. Used to love their shirts, but I was ripping through my new ones so fast, it became a running joke at the office. It drove my wife crazy. And it's not like they're tight or all the same ****ty material. They fit great, and I had a few different types. Got them at the Houston store in the Galleria before it closed.

I don't know only did the shirts. I just found the process so inefficient when done online and not that much cheaper.

In my view, you can probably buy a blazer close to fit for the same price as Proper Cloth at a department store, then spend an extra $100 getting it tailored and know you'll be way happier with it.

Dang, what are you wrestling in them? You blew out the elbows? I'm the owners of at least 8 CT shirts and they always fit well and I've never had a shirt fall apart, but then again, I never took to wrestling.

If it only comes in S, M, L it's not a dress shirt. That said I do like Lands End.
