Any recs for someone with a small individually owned S Corp and some rental properties? I've had the same CPA forever and don't necessarily want to switch...but he does no "planning" and I'm afraid I'm leaving money on the table. Would love to find a one stop shop who could do fee only CFP + CPA planning.

Serious question…what is a fair price to pay for this service and what do you expect to receive in terms of time and quantity/quality of meetings for the price you pay?

It's rare to find CPAs that actually plan. We have them. But if they aren't actually managing the assets meaning they have full time visibility to what's going on in terms of dividends, capital gains, Roth conversions, charitable giving etc it's hard to plan well.

Are you thinking you will provide the CPA a printed statement of your investments and ask them their thoughts about what you should do one time and then never speak with them again?

I'm not saying it doesn't exist, but I think you'll find you'll end up with a worse outcome this way because either the CPA/CFP won't have the most accurate up to date data to properly plan and project things or because the best advisors aren't going to do one off plans when they can help clients more deeply and consistently on an AUM structure.

Just my honest feedback.

Cost? I don't know - but I wouldn't expect for it to be cheap. Could even be what a AUM fee would be for year or more. But I wouldn't expect to pay that same amount in years 2 through 5 (or 10 or whatever) if there were no meaningful changes in my businesses/tax situation.

I'd want them to review my personal and corporate tax returns, businesses structure, assets, liabilities, investments, etc. I used someone years ago for this exact thing and they were very helpful and reasonable price wise (nowhere near what 1% of AUM would have been). I'd use that guy again but it appears he's retired. I've also got some recs from others in my line of business and on line, but was just hoping to get some recs here too.

And I'd be happy for them to be connected to a CFP who I could also consult with annually at least or on an as needed basis and pay for their time/expertise. I'm just not paying an AUM fee every year, at least not at this stage of my career/life.

Not what I meant (or said) at all.

EDIT...I guess maybe I should have said CPA/tax lawyer
