Self managed / zero fees / this is all in across all retirement and non-retirement accounts, including cash.

Probably worthwhile to have some perspective on all these numbers as allocations are going to be all different based on where you are in life.

I'm 46 targeting early retirement 50-55, Total portfolio about 20% international, 25% bonds, remainder diversified US equities with some individual trading here and there to "stay engaged" lol.

I pay $0 in fees. Less than 10% of my NW in this taxable account. Sits with family office - guy used to work with my grandfather and now manages my grandmothers money, my uncle's money, and a portion of my parent's money. I keep a small amount there as a diversification.

Self managed in basic s&p etf and growth etf.. Set it and forget it. I was in a managed account for 10 years but got tired of the constant fees and other issues.

I don't think you get into a managed account to beat or tie the S&P, but to diversify in a taxable friendly manner.

The hedge fund idea always seemed risky long term to me. Maybe thats a good place to rotate to when we're in a bull market but ya still gotta time the exit and then theres tax implications

I never said I used a manager to beat the s&p. I originally hired that person in mid 20s to invest for me but after AUM and other fees I walked away. I'm 12 years from early retirement and will use a fee based advisor for tax help in 5 or 7 years as needed. My life is pretty simple so it won't require much assistance.

I pay someone to manage my largest IRA which had been a 401K. 1 year 23.59%. YTD was 6.68% through wnd of April so annualized over 20%. I'm 69 so a good bit of risk, not all, eliminated. I have a smaller IRA i manage myself just for fun and I'm over 20% on it.

I have an old 403b that I moved over to a managed account. It's with a firm called Equitable Advisors.

The rest of my pre-tax investments (401k) are with Fidelity. The Fidelity account is about 2x the IRA. The benefit to having the IRA managed is that they will advise me on my total portfolio, even though they only manage a fraction of it.

IRA is up 30.66% the last year and 8.83% year to date (this is with no additional contributions).

Fidelity 401k is up 25.76% in the last year and 5.44% YTD (with maximum pre-tax contributions as well as some mega backdoor Roth contributions).

My account (2/3 managed) is up 24% the past year after fees and RMD's. YTD is 6.3% and I've taken 25% of my RMD. And my RMD's would choke a horse, Roth 401K was not offered when I worked, nor were withdrawals to an IRA prior to retirement. So I'm fully taxable. On the plus side A&M gets a lot of money I don't spend simply so I can avoid taxes.

My work SEP is divided amongst 4 managers. 3 are up about 6-8% ytd. 1 is DOWN 6% ytd. WTF? All together only a 5% gain.

My YTD on my personal "play" account is 20%. My "play" account is now worth about 2/3rds of my "managed" account.

I'm trying to build up my 401K ROTH to reduce the taxable part. I started a ROTH IRA last year to get the 5 year rule in motion but only contributing to Roth401K now

Not a direct advisor, but a managed portfolio. You can download the app or go to www.titan.com. I mainly invest in the Flagship offering with a small amount in their Opportunities.

They do have a team that is very easy to talk to and discuss finances with. Been on several calls with them.
