Women's Basketball Hosts Oklahoma State In Big 12/SEC Challenge December 7

COLLEGE STATION Texas A&M's women's basketball team hosts Oklahoma State in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Saturday, December 7 inside Reed Arena.
"I'm looking forward to renewing the series against Oklahoma State, who we've had some great games against when we were in the Big 12," said Texas A&M head coach Gary Blair. "I think the Big 12/SEC Challenge is great for everyone, because there's a lot of parity at the top in both leagues, and it is a chance to showcase the best of the SEC and Big 12."
The teams met every season from 1991-92 until 2011-12, meeting as Big 12 Conference opponents in the last 16 years of that span, but have not faced off since. The Cowgirls hold a 22-21 edge in the overall series, but the Aggies have taken 15 of the last 18 meetings.
Oklahoma State had reached the NCAA Tournament in five of the past seven seasons, but posted a 14-16 record in 2018-19. The game is slated to feature two of the six returning players in Division I who averaged 20.0+ points per game in 2018-19A&M's Chennedy Carter (23.3) and OSU's Vivian Gray (20.0).
This is Texas A&M's fourth appearance in the Big 12/SEC Challenge, having gone 1-2 in the competition. The Aggies last participated in the event in 2017, losing 70-56 to West Virginia at Reed Arena.
Coming off of back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances, Texas A&M has been as high as No. 4 nationally in early preseason rankings. The Aggies are last season's only Sweet 16 team returning every starter, with 94 percent of the team's points, and four double-figure scorers, coming back to College Station.

- January 30, 2007 at No. 18 Texas A&M 64, Oklahoma State 63 Danielle Gant hit the game-winning free throw with 0.3 seconds to play, answering a game-tying layup by OSU's Danielle Green. Gant finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
- February 17, 2007 No. 13 Texas A&M 62 at Oklahoma State 60 Takia Starks made a jumper with 0.3 seconds to play to break a tie at 60 and hold off a Cowgirl upset bid. OSU had rallied from down six with under three minutes to play to tie the game.
- March 15, 2008 No. 11 Texas A&M 64, No. 18 Oklahoma State 59 (Big 12 Tournament Final) The fourth-seeded Aggies won the Big 12 Tournament for the first time in school history, defeating the third-seeded Cowgirls 64-59. A'Quonesia Franklin scored a team-high 19 points, including four free throws in the final 23 seconds.
