Looks like the NCAA gave us some yoga mats and a few dumbbells for our workout. Just poor planning and organization and leadership given the resources at the disposal of the NCAA and schools participating in the tournament. Seems like schools that host NCAA post-season events such as A&M or Texas or Baylor or a combination of all three or any of the 64 could have been better prepared as they do this regularly.

Our basketball staff and AD are not pleased.

This is a joke and every AD should be pounding their fist on the table....This is total lack of professionalism from NCAA.....a kindergarten class has more exercise equipment....these are high level athletes who are being subjected substandard conditions.......wonder really how tight the NCAA is on covid protocols if they can't set up a gym

They are getting, rightfully, roasted for it. Did they not think that the girls and guys would compare faculties?

No in S.A. My guess is the NCAA is forcing them all into location to lock them down. Looking at twitter most of the team looks like they have enough stuff to make it until the Final Four, which means they have to stay put in their hotel.

my guess is they will not be allowed to leave until there are no more games to play.

NCAA makes nothing on the women's tournament and even less this year. They're clearly working on a very limited budget, minimal planning, and the women are clearly an afterthought.

Terrible. Let's run the tournament like a high school fundraiser...

I think the NCAA is spending, and losing, a lot more money on this tournament than ever before.

Only 4 teams are from Texas and took a bus to get to San Antonio. That means 60 charter plane flights.

64 teams are staying in hotels for 5 days before the first game. Normally 16 teams sleep in their own beds the first 2 rounds, and teams arrive 2 days before their first game.

None or fewer paying fans at games.

AND it looks like every athlete has her own room. I can understand this during Covid times, but when I was an athlete in college I always had to share a room.

Was the plan always to have the tournament in one spot, or is this in response to Covid? I preferred the host site options.

Covid bubble design. The separate venues is to get enough games in during early rounds.

Y'all I know this is a bit off topic, but I just noticed Rice was not selected for the tournament and is instead in the NIT. What the what? Crazy.

Men's training facility versus women's. Just unacceptable.

I'm tired of the empty "you go girl" empowerment platitudes by groups like the NCAA and advertisers like Nike. The group at the heart of this sport, the NCAA, is the one treating males and females differently by their own choice and actions. Their corporate partners like Nike are silent . They are happy to use the venue to sell to the enormous women's market, but absent when actually needed to stand up for actual female athletes that aren't making them $.

Back to the Future!!!

'At that time the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) had no interest in women's athletics, and administrators of the AIAW had no interest in the NCAA either. The NCAA was seen as being commercially driven and neglecting the meaning of the student-athlete. There were distinct differences between the two associations in the AIAW's early years. For example, student-athletes playing in AIAW programs were allowed to transfer freely between schools, and to prevent unfair advantages, programs were initially forbidden to offer scholarships and recruit off-campus.[6] The AIAW continued the rules established by the CIAW, which were intended to prohibit unethical practices that were observed in men's sports.[7] To enforce the rules, students receiving scholarships were forbidden from championship participation.[6] The ban on scholarships ended in 1973, following a lawsuit by players and coaches from two colleges in Florida.[8] The AIAW was not without criticism however, as some outsiders and individual members complained that the association devoted too much time, efforts, and funds securing distinction and independence from the NCAA.'

I can't see what the actual differences are in prep areas. But I know which has to make money.

Men's court. They also have "Second Round" on the end line.

Vs

Women's court. Although I do approve the glare by the sippie's lights.

Where is that men's court. What arena?

But normally first and second rounds are played on campus. So the ncaa doesn't have courts for them. The men they have those tourney courts

FWIW:

'The National Collegiate Athletic Association has built its trademarked "March Madness" phrase into one of the most powerful brands in sports. It's plastered on the courts, arenas and broadcasts for the lucrative NCAA men's basketball tournamentand absent from the women's tournament.

The reason for that absence is that the NCAA has withheld use of the "March Madness" brand from women's college basketball. It has used the memorable phrase to turn the men's tournament into a billion-dollar juggernaut, and at the same time declined to use it for the women's tournament that has grown in popularity in recent years.

The result is that the NCAA has held back a valuable asset from the women's tournament even as it now says it is committed to putting it on an equal footing with the men's tournament. A giant "March Madness" logo is splashed across the center of men's tournament courts in Indianapolis, while the women's courts either have no obvious tournament logo or simply say "NCAA Women's Basketball."'

I know they used to plaster those stickers all over the court but some players kept slipping on them so they cut back in them

But the men they buy those courts and store them for the games. They had discussion about this in Houston about using court for early rounds that then is used later on for the final four

An interesting fact I didn't know. But that seems to further the disparity.

And yes, I'm being 100% petty and looking for stuff. Which is what happens when you eff up as badly as the NCAA has this week.
