Great coaching decision to not call timeout after we get loose ball with 6 seconds left.
He was signaling a hack because the isu girl reached out and tried to grab her.

This game was killing me all the way through.
We let them get the huge lead, then we cut it to 3.
Then they'd open up a 9 pt lead.
Always keeping just out of reach.
And they played GREAT defense in the 4th. Let us tie and make overtime.
And then, Jordan Nixon.
That kid deserves the accolades. That kid deserves that beautiful memory that ALL AGGIES will cherish because if her hard work and grit.
Then her post game interview made the powerful moment even more poignant, more precious than it already was.

Jordan, for Aggies everywhere, we love you forever!
That game was a work of art.
Thank you for that gift to all of us.

I can't read minds, but I'd say ISU's coaches told their players that 1 of 3 things was going to happen on that last ISU possession.
1) Joens makes the shot and A&M calls time out.
2) Joens gets fouled and we'll discuss strategy while she's at the line.
3) Joens misses the shot and A&M gets the rebound and calls time out.
Watching the replay over and over, you can see that the idea that A&M might get the rebound and not call time out is nowhere on their radar of plausible outcomes. The guard that got back takes the terrible whiff of a steal attempt which really makes no sense in the open floor with less than 5 seconds to go, one of the other two literally runs away to avoid getting a foul called on her, and the other never even leaves her feet for a block. For all their three-pointers, they literally had no clue what to do at the end of the game.

I didn't think we had a timeout left. Didn't we use that when we advanced the ball on our previous posession?
That's what makes it so sweet.Fat Bib Fortuna said:
Because I'm a stat nerd like that, I can tell you that in this 45 minute game, A&M had the lead for exactly 1 minute and 38 seconds.
Iowa State had the lead or was tied for 96% of the game, and lost.

... Freshman. They will learn how to take the charge before next year.Fat Bib Fortuna said:

I didn't see the game. I have seen the final play.
Very exciting. Congratulations to them.
But why is Twitter claiming that the refs helped out A&M and without them they would not have won and that it was a raw deal?
Yes I understand Twitter is going to Twitter but why do so many people seem to think this?

I still think that was a flagrant. You cannot swing high elbows like that and not be called for a foul. It was at that point that I knew the refs decided not to be the game changers and let the teams finish it out and play.
