This game was killing me all the way through.

We let them get the huge lead, then we cut it to 3.

Then they'd open up a 9 pt lead.

Always keeping just out of reach.

And they played GREAT defense in the 4th. Let us tie and make overtime.

And then, Jordan Nixon.

That kid deserves the accolades. That kid deserves that beautiful memory that ALL AGGIES will cherish because if her hard work and grit.

Then her post game interview made the powerful moment even more poignant, more precious than it already was.

"Spirit of the 12th Man".

Jordan, for Aggies everywhere, we love you forever!

That game was a work of art.

Thank you for that gift to all of us.

Great coaching decision to not call timeout after we get loose ball with 6 seconds left.
He definitely signaled for timeout as Nixon drove, but the ref didn't see him (thankfully).

He was signaling a hack because the isu girl reached out and tried to grab her.

Ah, I stand corrected. Glad that also wasn't called!

Because I'm a stat nerd like that, I can tell you that in this 45 minute game, A&M had the lead for exactly 1 minute and 38 seconds.

Iowa State had the lead or was tied for 96% of the game, and lost.

I wish we could win a second round game before the last 25 seconds.
In 2018 Carter got the winner with 3 seconds left.
In 2019 Shambria Washington hit a 3 with 23 seconds left.
Tonight Nixon tied the game with 5 seconds left and won it at the buzzer in OT.

I can't read minds, but I'd say ISU's coaches told their players that 1 of 3 things was going to happen on that last ISU possession.

1) Joens makes the shot and A&M calls time out.
2) Joens gets fouled and we'll discuss strategy while she's at the line.
3) Joens misses the shot and A&M gets the rebound and calls time out.

Watching the replay over and over, you can see that the idea that A&M might get the rebound and not call time out is nowhere on their radar of plausible outcomes. The guard that got back takes the terrible whiff of a steal attempt which really makes no sense in the open floor with less than 5 seconds to go, one of the other two literally runs away to avoid getting a foul called on her, and the other never even leaves her feet for a block. For all their three-pointers, they literally had no clue what to do at the end of the game.

This is a very good point. They assumed we'd call timeout. The ISU players were in NO HURRY getting back on defense.

Agree with that. First of all, you have to give Ciera MAJOR kudos for her defense and the block at the end to give Jordan a shot at driving the length of the court. Defense inside the arc was top notch tonight. Secondly, what I couldn't believe is how many options we had open on that last play. We had Pitts calling for the ball for a 3, we had Kayla wide open under the basket and then of course Jordan driving up the middle. The ball didn't fall our way many times tonight until it mattered in overtime. Everything this team got was fought for tooth and nail.

When most of us had given up, the team never did. Props to GB and this amazing team. Now let's beat the ever loving hell outta those damn Arizona wildcats!

I didn't think we had a timeout left. Didn't we use that when we advanced the ball on our previous posession?

In overtime each time gets an extra timeout. So we had one.

I didn't see the game. I have seen the final play.

Very exciting. Congratulations to them.

But why is Twitter claiming that the refs helped out A&M and without them they would not have won and that it was a raw deal?

Yes I understand Twitter is going to Twitter but why do so many people seem to think this?

Watching the game, and the flow even late into the last quarter, I was totally prepared that Iowa St was going to win.

All of those 3s were brutal.

Still don't know how the Ags pulled out that win.

... Freshman. They will learn how to take the charge before next year.

Any of our guards and forwards would have stood their ground and hit the floor ... taking it to OT #2.

Warriors. There is no other way to describe the determination and courage of the Aggie teammembers.

Jordan's game-winning drive and shot, and both of her post-game statements about the strength of the 12th Man tradition and the team never quitting belong on every Aggie WBB historical highlight reel forevermore.

Heartiest congratulations to the players and coaches for making a third-straight Sweet 16!

Over the entirety of the game the officiating was fairly even but slightly favored ISU in my opinion. Just because beer gut is storming around like a fool doesn't make the late no calls actual fouls.

This.

Plus I never realized how overly dramatic Bill Fennelly is. He was OVER THE TOP dramatic. And that big ol man in the crowd stomping his feet and running up and down the stadium stairs was hilarious to watch. He was borderline heart attack watch.

I felt we had a lot of chippy fouls called against us throughout the game. Several obvious traveling violations where Joens scored through two defenders to worm her way to the basket.

The best coaching change I saw throughout the game was how they started guarding Joens. The team/coaches watched and learned how she worked and wormed her way around the basket. She did continuously try to throw her body into defenders to get the foul call. Smart player. But I cannot praise the Texas A&M effort on defense enough. SportsCenter AND ESPN both said Iowa State played the perfect game and it just wasn't enough to overcome A&M. To beat a team that hit 16 3s is something to be admired. Just think of it this way, I think they said they averages 9 a game? If they'd missed 4 of those, we win by 10-12 in regulation not counting rebound and transition. They were just HOT and had the shooters touch last night. All we could do is sit and watch and pray.

I still think that was a flagrant. You cannot swing high elbows like that and not be called for a foul. It was at that point that I knew the refs decided not to be the game changers and let the teams finish it out and play.

When the other team makes 16 threes at a 53% make, AND out rebounds you by 12 (50-38), that is going to be a loss 19 out of 20 times.

You see that in the box score and ask 'how in the heck did ATM overcome that 3-point shooting and rebounding advantage by the opponent? No way they could have won that game.'

And basically two answers jump out at you. The opponent had 24 turnovers to just your 7. And you got an extraordinary epic individual game by one of your players who made clutch play after clutch play when you needed one.

Agree. I also think Nixon was hacked as she crossed midcourt on her game winning drive. There were lot of calls that went either way.
