Game is over now. And that is pretty much a season ender. Making the NCAA tourney is going to be a reach.

I can't wait to see the gift South Carolina and Dawn Staley give coach Blair at the next game.

Will we make a hire to compete at the top level or abandon the program?

We plan to abandon the program. You didn't get the memo?

If we promote from within, we have no plans to complete at the top level.

It's a shame that Blair's last season isn't going to be a good one. Maybe he stayed one year too long.

What the heck happened? I saw the first half expecting Ags to win big in the second.

I don't mind any of the comments during a game thread tbh. At least it initiates some conversation and debate within the momentum of the game. Obviously and respectfully, we will never all agree. I love coach Blair and I am thankful for the many years of service and for the fact that he took a bottom of the basement program and made them relevant. There are those that are fine with relevance and there are those that would like the program to achieve more than what it has since 2011. I don't want to finish on average 3rd or 4th in our own conference. We may finish dead last this season. ((Hope not)) But I do believe he should be held accountable for what is transpiring with his team this season. I'm am not in camp "let him just ride into the sunset and finish 0-16 in conference" and be okay with it. Having said that, I will refrain from those opinions during a game thread. Hopefully nobody starts a thread entitled WTF IS HAPPENING lol

This is an inappropriate way to run the program. A lame duck coach and the players are playing like it too. The administration essentially allowed for a mediocre record and poor recruiting. Unless we have a new coach who has demonstrated performance then the mediocrity will continue.

They're already getting better as a team. Takes time to bring in new talent. That they let Florida back in is very disappointing but opening up a 19 point margin in the 3rd is exactly what we should expect. Florida is a proud program in all their sports and they buckled down and clawed back. There were some very poor shot choices in the fourth (not third) and lots of missed layups and bunnies.

I saw some tiredness at the end, too.

I keep hearing on this forum that the players love Kelly Bond-White. They're certainly not playing like they want her to be the next HC. If you're Ross Bjork, what in this season - with everything on the line for Kelly - indicates she's the person to replace a HOF, National Championship coach?

I think this is our frustration, Greg. A truly great program should not have to start poor in conference and get better as the season progresses. Certainly, this is true for all programs. Most teams WILL be better at the end of the season than the beginning (barring injury, etc). Why do we always make excuses for poor effort and results? We are lacking in quality athletes than can finish (make layups and bunnies), or we are lacking in coaching, or both. Bottom line this season is GB is not getting it done. His staff is not getting it done. His athletes are not getting it done. I hope they can turn it around.

Florida 39 points on 3 points baskets A@M 12. The game is not played like that anymore. When are we going to change our B recruitment to have players that can adapt to that style of play

To say that UF is a proud program and they play to win brings back all the BAS that haunts our whole system
We play to be mediocre. Too bad it takes years for is to even realize it.

Meh. You might have missed the multiple NCAAT runs then. He brought our program back to life almost by himself. No other Aggie coach has worked as hard on outreach as GB and frankly the locals ignored a good program.

The notion you're somehow an expert on it at the end is a little specious.

He's taking a victory lap. Celebrate with him.

And, no, I don't understand the frustration given I lived in the Midwest and it was hard lift to revitalize both the men's and the women me programs compared to how kids flocked to basketball and communities supported it. If you have a fuss it is better directed at the local community for not showing up like OU, Baylor, LSU, Tennessee do. We lost a lot of games we could have won with better support at home.

Yes your BAS is your neurosis. Show up at games and take it out on the opponents. And bring friends.

What? No one is entitled to a victory lap without performance. No coach should be allowed to coast out at the expense of the program. Again, this is a failure of the administration to even let this happen.

Pitts was out because of Covid protocols.

Can you give me another example of a coach making $1m/year being allowed to take a victory lap for their last year of employment? Do you believe the administration and fans should be okay with a losing and that no matter what happens we should all be thankful that we are consistently average, sometimes above average, and rarely exceptional? GB is a good coach. However, since Vic left, the program has not been the same.

We haven't played good basketball in a month. I wouldn't try to argue that as it is plainly obvious. I'm quite frustrated by today's game too. That doesn't mean Blair is coasting.

Early in the year it looked like we were seamlessly going to move from a team than won the SEC and was as high as #2 nationally last year into this season. Many might have penciled this in as a rebuilding year after losing 3 players to the 3 round WNBA draft. We replaced all of them with solid options.

Obviously, some players we were counting on aren't having the season's they expected and look to be banged up. And the coaches haven't found the answers yet. At South Carolina is going to be rough this week. Hopefully, we can get it headed back in the right direction after that. That is what I would expect from a Gary Blair team.

I do not think GB would ever think of this as a year of coasting (even after what I've asked above). I think he would be insulted by that insinuation and he realizes that what happens the remainder of this year may reflect poorly on his tenure. I PRAY he gets it turned around, but this reminds me of what ultimately happened to Andy Landers at Georgia after 7 SEC regular season championships and 4 SEC tournament championships.

The next hire decision is the critical one for the program. Not Blair coaching out the remainder of this season.

I completely agree! We have some very average guards coming in next season and nothing else. Our bench isn't anything to be giddy about when talking about 2022-23. Next year, barring any impact transfers, is going to be a bleak outlook

Pitts is our best shooter, but she isn't our best player. If she's our best player, we are screwed

We are not getting better as a team, that is false. We have greatly regressed from the first 5 games. We aren't shooting threes at a high rate as we did to start, resulting is to rely on paint points. If you can't tell, we are not a strong team in the post. That's why we are struggling
Ag4eva95

Quick question, how do you celebrate Blair's victory lap if every pit stop is a loss and a step back?

He has done enough. You're not racing on a victory lap. But he intends to make the tournament.

We are getting better as a team. Today was better than earlier in the season.

If by better you mean losing then yes, we are getting better. This isn't the team that ran DePaul out of the gym...so no we aren't.

When you say the lack of support do you mean financial support? Resources? Facilities? Coaches? Athletes? Or do you mean bc people aren't sitting in seats at Reed? First of all, most of us have been there from the beginning. But it is natural for attendance to fall off when the results aren't there. Should we support the team regardless? Yes! And most of us do, but that doesn't preclude us from wanting more.

To say that attendance has "fallen off" assumes that it was, once upon a time, a tough ticket to come by. The truth of that is, it never has been.

That's very true, but I would venture to say that's also true for almost all WBB programs. 2010-2014 certainly had more butts in seats, though.
