An Uber talented, experienced point guard could really reel this YOUNG and INEXPERIENCED team in, she would've been perfect in this system. Great ball handler, and shooter, great in the pick and roll, super creative with the ball in her hands. I'd like to hear what you think the coaching staff is doing wrong and what they can do better.

They were playing 4 guards, and Joni decided to do the same. She didn't have it in the 1st half(0/3) so she probably just sat her and got the others some run.
I think the game went exactly like I thought it would. Would have preferred a larger winning margin, but I have little doubt the game "film" will be used productively.
I think we won a game where Joni was trying to prioritize her principles and the way they want to play on both sides of the ball. Getting into their sets and executing against a less talented team. TSU was never going to win this game, they shot well enough to make it interesting but down the stretch she went to Barker in the post and Barker closed. We gotta box out better that's a fact, we know that, but let's be idk patient, with a coach in her first year at the helm.
If we were out rebounded by TSU that's just embarrassing. Going 7 for 20 at the free throw line is way below average. The reality is, our traditional bigs cannot run in this system. Jada and Sydney do not have the lungs to last long at this point. Janiah is almost having to do too much which is getting her in foul trouble early in games. Sydney has good post moves, but was largely ineffective today. Jada - idk. I just feel she's always frazzled when she touches the ball. The fact of the matter is, a win is a win, but this texas southern shouldn't have even been within 30 points of this team. Happy for a win, but it leaves me about as satisfied as the football team's win vs umass yesterday. Our athletic department is just going through hell right now.
Completely agree. She was a miss in recruiting. She hasn't played well in any game since she's arrived. This team is also extremely out of dhale(with a few exceptions like Sahara Jones). This is going to be a very long winter.

Petticord has been injured and has been in sweats on the bench in all games before today.
It looked like to me she was in uniform today. She never took off her warmup top like she knew she wasn't going to play yet.
I wasn't there in pre-game to see if she warmed up and didn't notice at halftime either. I'll pay more attention on Wednesday.

Sydney Bowles Career high 4AST
Tineya followed up a bad foul with a charge taken on the next play, twice. talk about a short memory.
Also after TSU cut the lead to 2 with back 2 back 3s from Micah Gray(7:59 48-50), the end of her scoring night the Aggies finished on a 17-6 run to put the Tigers away for good.
Aggies hold their 4th straight opponent under 40% from the field.

I wish Jordan Nixon would have stayed. I think she would have provided some more stability on the court with these young players.
The schedule in Jan is just brutal. So I expect to see us finish better than we start when conference play starts.

Me too, but I wonder if our new style wasn't a great fit for her game (and her leg/knee recovery). She wasn't the speediest of guards, and it might have taken her too much to adapt.

Carter, Barker, and Bowles - now that would have been an incredible trio!!
NIxon was definitely a perfect player for Buzz's system! She was a leader and QB of our offense! Don't think she would have been a fan of this uptempo push the ball and score fast sets! We tend to remember her playing injured most of last year, but before her apparent injury she was a stud!!

I'll always appreciate what Jordan did on the court, but her writing might be even better! She has a gift and I'm happy she's using it! Won't hurt to have an Aggie in the journalism world either! Check out some of her work!

Hoping the team can rebound tomorrow (both literally and figuratively).
I don't disagree with you. This team is just missing experience. I do think they will get better with time. I'm hoping she hits the transfer portal for some experience.
It looks to me Joni's going to have to hit the portal for post players next year. With Patty and Roby gone and MJ coming off an injury, post players are a must in my opinion. We have guards galore but one with experience running a system like Joni runs would be nice.
