now maybe we make run and make the sips pay him more just for spite.

Well, we've been played so many times for raises it's about time we get some payback.

Also I guess if I'm Vic why do I wanna come here and have to rebuild this mess, even with the portal. And i don't think there is anything we can offer better than what he's got.

He also has the number one recruiting class (maybe in history) coming in next year. 3 McDonald's All Americans, another 4 star, and they're also adding an international prospect who would most likely be another 5 star

Good let's pay him $10m per year bc we'd be an immediate contender with those athletes lol!

So who do you take that money from, volleyball, MBB, softball. At some point the money isn't there. We're already losing more on WBB than anything else.

I actually think we'd be better off hiring much cheaper coach that can build a program thru the portal and international players, than trying to build thru HS ranks.

I'd be happy with that. Someone like Bucky with lots of drive and ambition that can bring in a staff that's hungry for success and chases and finds the best athletes he/she can.

I'd just start following the volleyball team.

I wish we had this at A&M. Not necessarily this specific coach (I know we've gone round and round about him - I will aways be a fan of his), but this is the style the winning programs employ. We are too soft. Too worried about feelings. Too worried about who is getting what $$. Vic is a winner and will continue to be one.

GB's refusal to retire gracefully forced Vic to accept the best career opportunity he has ever had, and he is now near the top of his profession. He made the right choice, and we have to live with his teams rolling us for many years. Live and learn.

Well he is a coach that wins games but he has been a head coach for 20 yrs and he has not won the big one.

Coaches with National Championships (Last 25 Years):

• Geno Auriemma (UConn): 11+ titles in this span.
• Kim Mulkey (Baylor/LSU): 4 titles.
• Dawn Staley (South Carolina): 3 titles.
• Pat Summitt (Tennessee): 8 titles retired 2012
• Muffet McGraw (Notre Dame): 2 titles.
• Tara VanDerveer (Stanford): 3 titles.
• Brenda Frese (Maryland): 1 title.
• Gary Blair (Texas A&M): 1 title (2011).
• Carolyn Peck (Purdue): 1 title (1999, just outside this window, but noted for early success

Just shows the different standard you set for women than men......if he was say coaching football how long would he last

I don't believe I'm setting a standard any different between the men and women. We've never won a national championship in men's basketball, but if Bucky's results in year 4 are this poor I'd want a change as well. Football is the exception to the rule. That program fuels and funds all sports at Texas A&M. But, bringing in someone competitive (like Vic even though we won't get him), would be miles better than where we are. Gary gets the credit for having won the national championship, but we wouldn't have won that without Vic. He was a basket away from winning 2 championships at Mississippi State. He left and they may never be the same. With the resources tu has, he will win there, too.

He went to Miss. State in 2012, so just 12 years as a HC (2019-20 postseason was cancelled) at a real school, and 2 Championship games, 2 Final Fours, and 4 Elite 8s. Mulkey, Geno, and Dawn have won all but two of the championships in that time frame.

Unless of course you're counting the Sam Houston years against him as far as not winning it all.
