Having race involved in many things is absurd. Applied for a loan the other day and they were asking for demographic details to "create a diverse lending experience/portfolio" or some gibberish like that.

Look I qualify or I don't, I can make payments or I can't, NGAF what race you are, nor should they care.

A realtor please correct me if I'm wrong - but realtor's are not allowed to discuss racial demographics with clients -correct?

The government is talking out of both sides of its ass here - the person helping you buy the home can't discuss race, per the government, but the person determining if you can get a loan needs to know your race, per the government.

Shrinking the F'ing government would do wonders for this country.

Diversity is very long overdue in this industry.

The movement for BIPOC equity should not be controversial at all - especially this month.

Hope to see some serious progress, and big financial commitments such as these are only a start.

I didn't read the CNN article but some thoughts. Banks are required by HMDA to report ethnicity to ensure service to all communities. The penalties are harsh. Community Re-Investment Act lending is one way a bank is rated by the regulators. Failure to be fully engaged is not a good outcome for a bank.

Individually as a banker and for our bank and all others we profit when we make more loans. What kind of twisted thinking suggests we want to make less money.

Realtors make more money the more houses they sell. Same thing. What kind of thinking suggests they want to sell less houses.

An appraiser who undervalues properties based on race is just asking for problems not only as it relates to race but also it creates additional work reviewing and perhaps updating reports challenged by lenders and buyers.

As with most things born out of this hypersensitive world we live in it's a solution looking for a problem.
