Had a decent experience with Amplify Credit Union. They had a good rate and we're easy to deal with. They are out of Austin.

Penfed. Took 4 months.

Filled out the application to get one done at Aggieland Credit Union a little over a month ago. They were running a special at that time with no closing costs. I ended up not needing it and canceled the appraisal they had set up since the amount I was requesting required one. Pretty easy from what I saw and amazingly the appraiser called to schedule my appraisal within a week. I'm currently setting at 2 weeks waiting for my appraisal for a new property I'm purchasing and its not supposed to get done till the 3rd of September.

Credit Union of Texas outta Dallas

Took about 3 weeks. Everything done online including a desktop appraisal. Closing done at a title company in B/CS.

Prime plus whatever based on your credit score

There is a mandatory 10 day waiting period before they can schedule closing, then a 3 day cooling off period before it can fund. This is TX HELOC rules.

HELOCs in TX generally don't have any closing costs.

Gov it's 12 day and 3 day right of recession. All refis are 3 days. But your close enough.


Chris get bids from three local credit unions/banks and see what fits your needs. Just do some diligence and you will be fine. Read the fine print too.

Aggieland Credit Union had some good rates recently

I just did one with Amegy as they were running a special. Don't plan to use it but wanted it available just in case.

We're running that special through the end of August @ 0.9% for the first year.

Reviving this one based on HELOC rates. What are current rates? Looking for $20k to complete a shop finish out that I've been paying cash for as we get it. But ready to finish this thing. Approx $350k in equity. Great credit. Hays county.

Local credit union offered 4.2 variable or 5.7 fixed about a week ago.
