Good buddy of mine is trying to find an appraiser to work under. He's the Lieutenant at my fire station and a good man. Thought I'd ask here and try to help him out.
Thanks

Shooter, if the appraiser thing doesn't work out you could always try motivational speaking?

A lot of people trying to get into the field these days. I work for one of the big RE firms and us and everyone else hiring like crazy. Lot of SMU / A&M / UT kids as well where it didn't used to be like that. I think there's going to be a definite oversupply in the not too distant future.
But the money now and ease of lifestyle is great so it's not that surprising.

The money isn't that good, depending on your standards.TxAG#2011 said:

I get a call or email per week from someone wanting to be an appraiser.
It's a good gig today for us experienced guys with established clients, but by the time all these folks get a license and Fannie/Freddie ramp up these desktop reports and combine that with the loss of refi work, there will be an oversupply of appraisers.
Unless they are planning to train for a specialty, do him a favor and tell him to try something else.
Where is here?TxAG#2011 said:
We're still hiring here.
Most people I've talked to across our different sectors haven't seen a slowdown in work... yet. There still seems to be a good deal of institutional money looking to park money.
Commercial nationwide. Global RE firmp_bubel said:Where is here?TxAG#2011 said:

San Antonio just went "poof." For now at least.
