I'm possibly looking for someone to handle CAD work. At least to have a backup in case my current guy has to take time away.

We typically design and sketch homes ourselves and send to CAD when we have the basic idea of what our clients are looking to build. After we get dimensional CAD our clients tend to make changes and then I sketch out roof and electrical then send in ideas of elevations to get something similar.

With that said, would you mind answering a few questions:

Your price is very competitive to what I currently pay but do you charge extra for changes? If so, how do you charge?

Can you come out to any potential remodel projects and measure for as builts? I typically work as far north as Salado, down to Gruene, and from Marble Falls to Manor. If so, how do you bill your time?

My last question sounds kinda *******-ish but I really don't intend it that way...are you used to putting your own ideas into a plan or do you follow the ideas and vision of the client even if you disagree?

I don't charge for number of changes prior to final construction drawings. After the final drawings, I don't charge for minor changes but anything structural would be per hour.

Yes, I can do that and if I need to charge for travel, it would be per hour ($50).

I like to offer design options when asked, but each individual client has their own vision and I try to create what they want. I will offer suggestions if something isn't working or doesn't make sense.

How do you charge for site planning? For example:
10 acre street and lot layout; I provide detailed metrics for each lot footprint and street width, sidewalks, etc. Obviously even some of those parameters would need to be worked through once it starts being laid out. Typically, I get charged by the hour for site plan design.
