We have a 1.5 story home and the upstairs is very nice to have as a "sneaky" upstairs. Right now we have a replaceable partial sectional couch, and a tv stand with tv. My kids' toys are somewhat organized and the closet is full of board games.

I'm not looking for a man cave but would love to turn the room into a place the family WANTS to go in the evenings.

The kids use the space but are normally in their own rooms or out back in the backyard. So I think it would be smart to design the loft room for the grownups to be comfortable and watch wheel of fortune after dinner. Any inspiration?

New floor covers, and paint.

A/V upgrades and a decent TV.

Add a small wet-bar with popcorn machine or some other family friendly features.

Depending on how the half story is accessed you could also try making a hidden entrance. I saw a home where someone fit a bookcase on hinges into the door of the basement stairwell....took me forever to figure out how to get down there.
