Stories like this make me appreciate mine. I'm currently the VP.

But it even more so makes me appreciate the 10 acres in the woods surrounded by much larger properties that we close on next week and will be building on asap.

Me too. We just had a house in our neighborhood get purchased with the intent of making it an STR - HOA brought the hammer down.

We had a guy turn his house into one and the uproar was so great that the HOA upgraded our document with more expressive language and penalties.

That guy immediately put his house on the market.

Tonight was street fight night!

Unsure how it started but heard lots of cursing and yelling, appears that one tenant got in one of the 4 cars that is permanently on site in the street, the ankle monitor guy then proceeded to jump on the car, beating on it, flipping them off, yelling at them. Once they took off he jumped in his car and peeled off after them....he returned about 5 min later bc I guess a street race wasn't in the cards tonight. But fun times in the middle of the streeet.....loud enough for me to hear inside my house. I'm sure the neighbors hears too

You need to make the property a hassle to own and run.

I don't remember, is the owner a local?

Didn't realize so many months have passed but I did have a baby this summer so enjoying all that goodness.

But the adventures next door continue! The medium term tenants left and the listing is back on air bnb. It has been de listed and relisted not once but Twice! Bad reviews and a low rating prompted it we guess. The house itself is still on the market but still priced higher per square ft than other houses in the neighborhood.

One of the air bnb tenants didn't park IN our driveway but right in front of it....that lasted about a minute before I came out and said it needs to move NOW. We heard someone else using our water hose one night, but we were both too tired to deal with it (see new baby above).

The biggest issue has been trash. The renters overfill the bins and they never get them set out on trash day. This lead to overflowing trash and a buffet for Bandit the raccoon (what we named him). Once we started reporting it every single trash day it's gotten better, I'm guessing the house rules have been updated to place the trash cans out. One tenant was sweet and asked our permission to use our trash cans since theirs was overflowing. We liked her. Chatted a bit etc.

As of now it sits empty...unsure what December will bring, maybe someone will buy the house...probably not. I dont think its currently booked at all for this month as of now. Since I'm out of the newborn fog will try to stay on top of any new adventures.
