Does anyone know the Texas Railroad Commission oil/gas well spacing to property line requirements? I am considering purchase of a 33 acre property and the property width is 750 feet (rectangle). I am finding different answers on Google as to minimum well spacing to property lines. Wondering if this is a "safe" situation due to the relative narrowness of property. Thanks in advance.

You may wish to post this on the Outdoors forum. Bunch of O&G guys over there….I have even come across a couple that worked for the RRC that were able to look some things up for me as a favor to a fellow Aggie….which likely would have cost several hundred if I went elsewhere. This should be a quick answer over there.

Don't know about RRC requirements, but title company wants a 500' setback from property line for a drill site set aside on a project I'm working on.

OP, what do you consider a "safe" situation?

Set backs or spacing typically depends on the wellbore location (in a horizontal field especially) and are largely subject to field rules. The old standyby was 467 feet from a property line for an oil well, but in the age of horizontals, wellbores are required to be 330' off of a lease line, but there are always exceptions to this rule.
