I purchased about 30 acres outside of Bryan several years ago with an old farm house on the property. We're now in the process of deciding whether to remodel the existing house or tear it down and build. Probably a bardo if we build. Looking for a good lender to discuss my options or even some builder recommendations if you have any.

That would be Capital Farm Credit, they can handle home or barndo construction.
Just curious, did you pay cash for the land? I know it's too late now but I always recommend financing the land purchase and pay cash for all construction projects, much easier to go that route.
Call the Bryan Capital Farm Credit office.

No, we didn't pay cash. We actually have a loan through Capital Farm Credit on the land. I didn't know if it would be better to go through them on a house or if there were any better options. Thanks

I did my land purchase/mortgage through Brazos County Bank 3 years ago. They were equal to any rate i found elsewhere including Capital Farm Credit and super easy to deal with. It was down to those 2 for me and I went with Brazos County Bank as they were very patient with me asking tons of questions and as they are more "locally owned", I tend to always want to give my business locally, everything else being equal.

Great to see Capital Farm Credit mentioned here! Just wanted to chime in - our headquarters is actually right here in Bryan/College Station, along with our Bryan credit office. Our team lives and works in the community, and as a cooperative, we're owned by our customers, who share in our profits through our patronage program. Everything we do is about supporting local ag and rural property owners.

For construction financing, we've helped a lot of folks with everything from remodels to barndos, so definitely reach out if you want to explore your options. Our Bryan credit office can be reached at 979-775-0404. Happy to help however we can!
