the PAC16 move had succeeded (minus A&M). Imagine the landscape right now with UT, OU, oSu, and Tech in the PAC16 East. A&M would have been easily replaced with Utah. I'm of the opinion CFB would have been better off if it had come to pass.

A&M joins the SEC then Mizzou joins as well. Kansas and Nebraska join the B1G. KSU, ISU, and Baylor have to fend for themselves.

PAC revenue would be massive and Tech would receive an enormous increase in exposure playing teams like USC, Oregon, UCLA, etc. UT would get to hob-knob with Stanford and Berkley and sniff their own farts. Old rivalries remain largely intact. What an interesting league that would've been.

That would be a cool league.

I personally think A&M would be better off and a better fit in the B1G. I doubt many Ags agree.

Tech is making noise for AAU membership, which I would assume is being driven in part by a desire to join the B1G. It will take a lot of money and several years.

It's strange to me to see schools like Washington, Oregon and USC in the B1G. I'm sure most of those teams from the former PAC look up and wonder what the hell just happened with the move to the B1G.

No, the PAC 12 would still have Larry Scott as commissioner to destroy the league.

The only conference that is a worse fit for A&M than the B1G is the PAC. I would only want A&M in the B1G as a last resort. I can just imagine a late season game in East Lansing or Madison... Jeebus! We have decades of history with LSU and Arkansas and none with B1G schools.

Maybe. Don't forget though, DeLoss Dodds would be there and I doubt he would let Scott ruin it all. There is a lot to dislike about Dodds, but he definitely wasn't a wallflower.

Agreed, 100%. We have very little in common with the schools in the Midwest, and given that several of the old PAC schools are there now, it's even less enticing. The SEC has been a very fun and culturally fitting conference for us, and I very much enjoy some of the SEC stadium and fan environments, particularly Auburn, Bama, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. We have a very long history with LSU and Arky, program ties with Bama, cultural similarities with Auburn, and regional proximity to others.

I abhor SEC leadership, especially for the whole Texas/OU entrance, but it's otherwise a fitting and fun conference. It's far more interesting than our old Big 12 days, and we've also elevated our profile as a result. We'll stay, thank you.

I don't know if SEC leadership even had a say in it. This seems like ESPN ramming it down the SEC's throat. Especially given that ESPN made "transition payments" to OU and Texas to cover any budget shortfalls associated with the move. I'm not saying Sankey doesn't suck, he clearly does, just think this one came from ESPN. There was no reason to add them otherwise.
