  • Corn was the first of 4 schools to exit the Big12
  • Saw limited success early under Pelini
  • Since then it's been a continuous fail
  • Former Corn AD met with Bowlsby about a return
  • Fans were griping about long road trips
  • Stealth approach from a go-between
  • Bowlsby interested
  • Met in Dallas
  • Groused about CFB
  • Bowlsby enthusiastic
  • Additional School would be ideal
  • Consider Colorado
  • Informed leadership of his outreach
  • Some for, some against
  • Was able to keep it under wraps
  • How close did it get? Not known.

Nebraska should change their name to the Crawfishers.

Firing Frank Solich sped up the process of them falling as far as they have. Keeping him would have at least allowed for a few more seasons of good football.

I doubt they ever get back to good. Even if they spend similar amounts as other schools. Nobody wants to live in Nebraska.

They get Colorado and most of the Big 8 back on the schedule and get recruiting trips to Texas without sip around running the place like their private fiefdom.

Honestly seems like it would be a win for them.

They lose $20 million per year and access to the multi-billion dollar B1G research consortium to gain games with ISU and K-State. Wouldn't be a wise decision.

And on Nebraska, why does that fraud Rhule keep getting mentioned for coaching openings? He has been average everywhere he has been

agreed. he must do something special in job interviews.

Midway through the 2022 season, Tepper fired Rhule after a blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers dropped Carolina to 14. Rhule, who was in the third year of a seven-year contract, received $40 million as part of his buyout

this shouldn't be so typical. priorities are fckd in this world

He was great in the recent Las Vegas Bowl. His team stayed with 22 points of the third place Big 12 team.

Nebraska is basically Minnesota--a program that made a name for itself decades and decades ago, but will never be what they were ever again. No talent of major note in that state, which is small. They used to get kids from KC, St. Louis, Wichita, and Denver, since they played teams near there a lot, as well as Prop 48 kids that could barely read, when they were dominating the Big 8. Then, getting games in Texas got them some talent from down here, too, but the writing was on the wall once the Texas schools joined and made Prop 48 kids a thing of the past. Osborne saw what was coming and left on a high. Solich benefited from a fading legacy, but their fanbase didn't get what was happening, so they got rid of a legacy guy and hired some real buffoons after that in Bill Callahan, Bo Pelini, and Mike Riley. Matt Rhule hasn't exactly shown much, either, but again, they're a dying brand in a dying area of the country, playing teams with much more talent in Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and probably even some others not mentioned.

Nebraska will never be able to acquire the talent necessary to compete at the highest level. They should consider going all in on wishbone/triple option offense.
