I would consider this standard for any above average club in Houston area right now.

Grew up on #16. The course is in good conditions almost all of the time. I think it's worth it if you live in the neighborhood. The golf options on that side of town aren't that great - public or private. It has more than just golf, of course. Dining room, bar, pool, gym, tennis courts. Even has childcare I think, so you can drop the kids off for a couple of hours, which is nice. Monthly doesn't seem too terrible when a nice gym costs close to $200 / mo. now.. the membership probably skews a little older, but the area is slowly turning over with younger families moving in

There's a thread on here somewhere for Houston country clubs. You could dig it up and get a sense for other club dues. Monthly dues may be a little high, but initiation of pretty low at BO compared to others.

Absolutely, that's the reason I ended up not joining blackhorse. Just giving a pricing comparison.
