Shindler: New course rules are quirky, but it beats not being able to golf

• This has been really weird. We rarely have events canceled in golf. It takes some extreme conditions. We got our first update right when all sports were coming to a stop that we were going to try and play without fans. That was quickly changed. As of right now, we're hoping for a June restart. It's a very bizarre feeling.
   
• The PGA Tour is the main wheel. We fall in-line with them. We're hoping to restart when they do. For us, it's a qualifying process for getting on the tour, and we've already lost so many events that are involved in that. When the NBA and G-League get canceled, that's fine because it's all connected. For golf, you have to earn your spot on the PGA Tour, so they have to work on a fair and safe way to get this all figured out.
   
• I think golf could play a massive role in sports returning. I think it is something that can be televised, without fans and it's low-contact. The only contact is with you and your caddy. I think we could even lessen the contact with scorecards and do that a little bit differently than usual.
   
• For the most part, golf courses are open, it all depends on the club and what country they are located in. The flagstick has to stay in, no rakes. It's a little quirky, but it's working. It sure beats not being able to golf.
   
• The odd part is being thrown out of my routine. I usually visit the chiropractor two to three times a week, but I don't have that right now. It's also the relationships. The majority of my friends are the guys on tour. We usually spend a lot of time together, so not having that right now has been weird. Right now, it would be the start of our busy season. But I’m trying to make the best of it and enjoying my time at home with my wife and the dogs. 
   
• With the virtual lessons, it just kind of came out of nowhere. The next thing I know, I've got a bunch of people reaching out to me now, and it's been a lot of fun. I've spent a lot of time on that, and it's been a lot of fun connecting with people and helping them with their swings.
   
• I had a lot of fun re-watching the 2019 Masters yesterday. It was great seeing that Tiger comeback. My favorite all-time shot at Augusta? I'd have to say Tigers chip at 16 against Chris DiMarco. To execute that well, and to hit that exact spot is something that no one ever thought could be done. I remember watching that as a kid losing my mind. That is one of the most unbelievable shots in the history of the game.
