The Wilderness in Lake Jackson is the newest course l can think of. It opened in 2004.

Currently involved with the development the OP is asking about. Quite a big deal with single family, multi-family, commercial, schools and yes...golf.

Drove by earlier this week. Definitely looks like a course from 99. Curious if anyone has any new info?

Anything new on this? Details, etc? Drove by it the other day. Excited for a new course in the Houston area.

I heard it's supposed to open in 2022.

What is the story on The Falls? Who purchased it and when will it reopen? I know it had been discussed on this board in the past but nothing much had been said about it since it's closure. I was pleasantly surprised to hear it is coming back.

Bumping this thread. Drove down 99 the other day and you can see the dirt work of one of the fairways. Its right next a new street being cut in that is an expansion of Riverwalk Dr. The street isnt open yet so I can't get back there to investigate.

I found this thread in a google search, but can't find any info on the course!!

ETA, this is part of New Caney / Porter area.

Satellite view on Google Maps shows where they've cleared some trees and potential tee/green locations.

Great call! That fairway under the "99" is visible from the highway and taking shape.

According to this website...

Beazer Homes - The Highlands

it appears the development will be called The Highlands with plans for the course to be semi-private.

EDIT:

Here's the development's website. Not much golf course detail.

I live in the area and have been looking into it. As someone mentioned, it will be a sister course of Augusta Pines and Gleannlock Pines. Which are both owned by Tour 18 Inc. An open records search will note that there is a taxpayer entity named "Highland Pines Golf Club". The entity name was created in early 2020 and has the same company address as Augusta Pines. The entity name matches the development area, which is what they did with Augusta Pines and Gleannlock Pines.

I just hope they have a decent practice area. I live about 10 minutes from it.

Check out the links above. This golf course is being developed by Caldwell Companies in Houston. I live in this area, so I hope they make this a public course. All the courses in The Woodlands are private, so there's only a few public course options around. I'm sure the golf course won't be open for at least another year or so.

Noticed on the drive to Aggieland last for the first football game that they still haven't grassed any holes yet...even my son made a comment that they seemed to be moving slow on this course build.

Anyone have any insight?

Right next to the West Fork of the San Jac River? Just me or does this seem like a terrible place to put a golf course? That area likes to flood anytime we get a little rain.

Just drove by. Definitely grass being put in. Guessing opening next year by look of hole from freeway

Does anyone have an update on construction on this? Driving by it, it looks like the greens have grass on the holes i can see, sand is in the traps with grass growing around them. Any idea what the membership cost/dues will be?

it's secondhand info but I've heard some of the greens have grass on them and there are traps with sand in them and grass growing around them.

I flew directly over it last week, and it looks like there's still a good amount of work to go. You could see each of the holes carved out, but it didn't appear each of the greens had grass. The one closest to the highway surely does.

Very interested in this course as well!

Wife and I were scouting out potential areas on the Northside otw back in town. Decided to pull into the Highlands and check out the progress.

Some grass coming in a few areas. Really liked the look of one hole with a downhill tee shot.
