Taking a family trip to Disney and want to take my oldest out to play a really nice course. We've already played all of the Disney courses. Just looking for something special. If anyone knows of a dynamic course within 2 hours of Orlando, I would greatly appreciate it.

Sure they're booked up, but probably worth making a call to Streamsong.

I've played TPC Tampa. It was ok. Innisbrook, which hosts the Valspar, is almost 2hrs away. I played it once and preferred it over TPC. I haven't played Streamsong but would say that's better than Innisbrook.

Avoid Disney. Celebration is nice. Southern Dunes in Haines City used to be really nice especially for the $$$. Orange County Golf is great.

Bump for any recommendations within 30 min of the convention center. I'll be in Orlando later this month for work. Which course would you play at ChampionsGate?

I played Championsgate International back in October. I thought it was a great course. Don't let the pictures online fool you it is very hard to miss the fairways. They are that big. I'm not great at golf usually shoot in the upper 80s, low 90s and missed one fairway the entire round. Greens were large, smooth and fast. Sand traps were the easiest I've played. Lots of sand in traps, no worries about hard ground just below the surface. I wish I could play the course everyday.

I also played Grand Cypress Links Course the same week. Very nice course but lots of construction around the course. They are building a huge resort area around the course. It's going to be really nice when complete from the looks of the posted renderings. It's a long, winding ride from clubhouse to first tee to get around the construction. I enjoyed the course just as much as Championsgate International. It's just different in design. It's a Nicklaus course inspired by St. Andrews Old Course. If I remember correctly 14 of the 18 holes have shared greens. These greens are huge with a ridge separating the holes. You just have to remember what color flag you are aiming at. I believe it was white for front nine and yellow for back.

The third round I played was at Disney Palms. Nothing special just great course conditions. More like an upscale country club.

All three courses I played were in awesome condition. I never had a bad lie all week. All three courses were more open than the courses I typically play. I have played both Traditions and Miramont in BCS and all three Orlando courses were better with regard to playing conditions.
