Did you decide what you wanted?

Not yet. I just scheduled my fitting for January 30th at Club Champions. I am going to hit some heads and see what I like, then start optimizing with shafts

I am hoping that one club just jumps off the chart, but I am pretty sure there will be multiple brands in play.

Make sure you bring your current set for comparison.

I can jack up my simulator to add 30 yards to any shot, any one... like high altitude setting, high temperature and tail wind with firm condition.

Yes, my real concern is the gap in my wedges that the irons will create. If I start hitting a pw 140 instead of 120, but my 50 dagree wedge is 110 yards, that's gonna be an issue.

The 921's come with 8 clubs a gap wedge to solve that issue. And it is sweet!!!! I mean a can bury that thing into the ground and yank the string!!!

Okay, I got antsy and moved my fitting up to today. I hit my clubs as a baseline. The fitting was done with a six iron. First he grabbed a Srixon X5 Mk2 head. I went through several shafts to find one that gave me consistent ball flight. We then started changing heads to see what I liked. I hit Taylormade P770, Muira CB 301, Srixon X5 and X7, and Mizuno Pro 223's and 225's.

3rd place Mizuno Pro 223's
Pro's - absolute butter feel , great top line.
Con's - not as forgiving as the 225's, nor as long as the 225's and Srixon X5

2nd place Srixon X5 (4-7 irons) X7 (8-PW)
Pro's - surprised how good the feel. I could tell exactly where I hit them on the face. Great top line
Con's- less consistent on poor swings

1st place Mizuno Pro 225's
Pro's - butter feel, longer than 223's, great dispersion, consistent length. Highest ball speed of those tested. Great top line.
Con's - Needed to rent a Brinks truck to pay for them (I am pretty sure everything I hit was expensive).

My first swing with the 225's were absolutely pure swings. The next two were on the toe (4mm and 5 mm). The performance was still there for me. I basically lost a couple yards. That truly was the selling point for me. My miss late in rounds is to the toe side.

No ping, titleist or callaway irons?

What shaft did you decide on?

I had played the Titleist T200's and T100s's as rental clubs. They are great clubs, just not the feel and look I prefer.

I hit the Apex Pro 21's at the PGA Superstore and did not like them. As far as Ping goes, I have 3 sets. I guess I could have it the i230's. After hitting what I hit, I could have gone with any of those three I listed as favorites.

The shafts I got was the OBAN steel stiff (115 gram).

Did you not like any lighter 95-100 gram shafts?

And how did these irons perform compared to your current set of irons?

Better dispersion with the 115 gram than 100 gram. These cubs are an average 8 yards longer, but I will get them bent to get the yardages where I want them.

Biggest improvement is toe hits. My mis late in rounds tends to be on the toe. The performance is incredible on toe strikes.
