One of the most fun rounds of golf I've ever played.

I got there a 3:30 when I went and got on no problem. I also was there the same day as some women's college golf team from the US (don't remember who), so was probably #14 in line.

This is why we can't be friends.

That breaks my heart...I thought we was friends already.

*****.. If I'm playing the old course, I'm not walking on.

So today, I played the Old Course. Just an unbelievably cool experience. I'm typing from our Airbnb on Scores about 100 yards from the first tee. I asked at Dunvegan last night about the queue and he said 5:45-6. That was spot on as I arrived at 5 (woke up at 4:20 and decided I was on a sleep cycle and too excited to go back to sleep) to find two others. #4 didn't get there until 6 so I had my pick of times.

Here's me in the center with the two blokes from Ireland they paired me with on the newly remediated Swillcan Bridge (no stone landing). The grandson had bought the trip for his Grandfather after the elder man had prostate surgery as a way to cheer him up. We had a blast.

I chose 7:30 with a caddy. He shuttled me around with my meh Calloway rentals (only 35 though). Shot 92 including a par out of the Valley of Sin that drew applause from the folks on the walking trail above the green.

Awesome experience! It's really impossible to describe the feelings of that round

But those clubs are ****ing trash. It's beyond disappointing to me that the home of golf can't have decent clubs

There are several places close to the course that have good clubs for rent, but you would need to do a two-day rental if you're walking on. If you have a particular set you want to use you can rent them from the appropriate place and have them delivered to you for the round and then picked up and returned when you're done. You'll pay both the rental and delivery fees so more expensive, but could be worth it if you want to tackle the course with something close to what you use.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is what we used when we were there:
