I am hoping that it was just a case of having lots of rain the last few weeks as well as being "winter" still but I was not impressed. The traps were hardpan maybe 2 holes looked to have been raked in the recent past. The greens were super wet which I thought was weird for being elevated and hadn't rained in two days prior. The tees seemed to be angled wrong and they were all marked with the wrong colors compared to the stone hole markers. Lastly it was our first time there and the signage explaining how to get to the next hole was horrible.

I have been to the course a few times for my high school girls' team. Usually it's in decent shape. Greens are pretty solid generally. I'd say bad weather/time of the year is part of the issue. I'd say you had a bad experience, but not to give up on the course. See what happens next time out (but allow for the weather to have been good for a week). I can say the area near the clubhouse can be a struggle, that's nothing new there or something I'd expect to change. It's been 2-3 years since I've been there, so I can't speak on the color on the signs vs. the scorecard.

I'll definitely give it another shot later in the spring or summer. It's probably the closest course to the house so it won't get written off

played at gleanloch many times over the years. i do think it is slipping into what Longwood has become.

Lots of tournaments and a lower overall maintenance and upkeep than the tier 1 courses in Houston

"i do think it is slipping into what Longwood has become."

I've played both 2-3 times in the last month. Gleannloch isn't even close to how rough Longwood is.

Longwood has some holes with dirt tee boxes. Many (not all) of the greens either have dead patches, massive weed patches, or diseased areas. The fairways still have ruts from flood damage. Not to mention cart paths falling into the creek.

I guess I haven't played Longwood in several years.

Had no idea it is now that bleak

I remember playing Longwood 15-20 years ago when they kept losing their greens and had to replant them after redoing their drainage system.

Honestly……. to me……… Longwood is in quite a bit better shape now that it was back then. At least is has greens.

I grew up playing Longwood in the late 90's.

What a wonderful course it was when it opened. $10 green fees for juniors

Which is ingredient #1 to the decline of a golf course.

+1 here.

I'm on the driving range membership at Longwood because I get discounted green fees. My 7 year old boy and 6 year old girl got in the habit of going with me Thursdays after work and now that Daylight Savings Time is coming back, they're pumped to go again.

My daughter will definitely be a player. My son may be the youngest greenskeeper ever because he likes to play in the bunkers and even rakes them when he's done.

Longwood's greens are much improved after the drainage work, but they shoot them selves in the foot by stacking tee times so close together.

I'll take it, though.

Slightly off topic but we live close to Cypress Lakes and Cypress Lakes and Longwood are sister courses both owned by Triumph I believe. Word is that Longwood will lose all the holes on the right side of the road that splits it (if you were driving from the clubhouse towards Louetta (the side where the little cemetary is for those that know it). They are doing something for flood control. Word on the street is that Cypress Lakes will be sold soon and turned into a development, that will be sad for us because we can walk to it. We have played Gleannoch several times because my daughter has a friend whose family are members there, it has always been in okay shape. If you are a member at Gleannoch doesn't that include Gleannloch, Augusta Pines and the new course over by 99 Highland or whatever it is called? I think Gleannloch is a cut above both Longwood and Cypress Lakes.

When Cypress Lakes goes, all that traffic is going to go to Blackhorse, Houston National (Sterling) and to Longwood, that is alot of extra traffic and alot more wear and tear on those courses.

Been hearing this for a few years now, but yet to see anything official. Curious to know if it'll ever happen.

Curious if HMR is worth the $100 Fri-Sun green fee they're charging

That's probably the ceiling.

Good staff, good food in the shack, great facilities. No cart girl (I'm not complaining about the lack of women, more so the lack of in game beers being brought to me). Also, I can recall catching sight of two groups ahead of me on a few of the par fives, so they've got a habit of either stacking tee times or not making pace of play an issue.

Worth playing it if you can be in the first groups on a weekend , I'd say.

If this is a problem, then $100 is your floor, not your ceiling.

I've seen you mention before your enjoyment of SFA. they are charging only $30 this month for green fees

With 2 kids, I'm not to the frequent >$100 rounds yet, but am starting to get out to those courses a bit more frequently and it's so nice.

Longwood GC used to have the best cart babes... not sure if they still do.

Had a good time there today. It Wasn't in terrible shape. A few tee boxes were a little janky and the greens were a little bumpy but I actually like how the soft greens held my shots and how the bunkers played compared to my home course. Cart girl service left something to be desired but overall not going to complain.

GP: Saturday

The course wasn't in terrible shape, but like a previous poster said, the greens were a bit bumpy and slow. Tee boxes could have definitely been better. Overall, had a good time and enjoyed the course (78 from green tees. Was insanely windy)

HMR: Sunday

Highly recommend. Was in great shape. Greens were pure. Love the layout, and until the last couple holes the pace was good. (77 from back tees)

Glad to hear that about HMR. How are the facilities these days? Didn't they add a small locker room?
