Starts this week**
Google said 23rd but it's Friday 24th

Ok, PGA at the Honda with a terrible field unfortunately. I used to like watching the Honda...

LIV has a better field and it's not close. Looking forward to see what their production is gonna look like. Kinda surprised they aren't advertising more

Will be interested in seeing ratings vs last year's events

You don't think it's any coincidence LIV scheduled their first event following back to back weeks of WMO and The Genesis invitational? The best players are all taking off until March for the memorial and TPC. The elevated event structure for the PGA will be great long term and a nice reaction thanks to LIV. Unfortunately, certain tournaments are going to suffer like the Honda. Pretty sure this is their last year to sponsor this tournament. I also feel like I don't need to watch Golf every week so having 15-20 events a year where the best players are guaranteed to tee it up is great.

I'm sure it's 100% planned and it's what they should do. Play their events on PGAT's "off weeks"

LIV has better players this week

Yet I'd still rather watch someone trying to secure their first tour win or someone trying to reignite their career versus watching mostly Tour has-beens who already have their big payday playing in an exhibition. Ooh...but the TEAM aspect. WGAF.

I think the broadcast tomorrow is just on a CW app, while Saturday and Sunday will be on the actual network.

I think it'll be cool to see which production features they carry over from the YouTube broadcast into the network one.

When I watched last year it felt like I saw more golf shots and less fodder/filler than a PGA tour broadcast, but we'll see.

I'll watch round 1 at the office and catch the back half of the final round Sunday afternoon, but traveling Saturday and Sunday morning.

I was on the LIV golf website and it has a link to what seems to be a streaming app as well? Hard to figure out at the moment.

LIVgolf+ seems to be an app you can download on your computer or smart tv

Not sure snarky comments are gonna win fans over to LIV - especially from Pat Perez

AustinCountyAg
How long do you want to ignore this user?
pretty sure a quote from Pat Perez isn't going to move the needle on "winning fans over"

No one seems to mind the snarky comments from PGAT players

I think it's dumb from both sides...

If LIV can exist on these "off weeks" of PGAT I'll watch but from some more things I've heard recently and some changes at the top of the organization I'm not sure what's going on...it doesn't sound good

In other news. Brooks said he and Bryson not only squashed their **** but talk almost every day.

Finau says the player he misses most on the Tour is Brooks.

Shipnuck said he's heard rumors that Brooks has buyer's remorse. We'll see if he responds/reacts to any of that chatter this weekend.

After watching the Netflix episode on brooks, I asked my buddy about him

My buddy hasn't watched Netflix special so some of this people already know
He said that Brooks is much different than people think. He pays his coaches a higher percentage than just about everyone on tour, he tips better than just about anyone on tour, he in fact does practice ...his injury took his game down a notch and seems his confidence is shook a bit...super nice guy and most everyone really liked him...my buddy is not a fan of his brother.

I can totally see that from Brooks. He's got the hardass mentality, but I think that stems from him never being "the best" coming up. He worked his but off to get where he got and takes the mentality to tournaments because he knows he needs the extra edge and focus to win. Seems very grateful and your post above highlights that.

Yeah, I remember watching something on him after he won one of his majors, and he talked about grinding out tournaments in cold rainy days on the Euro tour thousands of miles away from his family day after day just to earn his card on the regular tour, and his conclusion was that's where he got his mental makeup. If you can deal with that isolation and struggle for that long just to break through, the pressure of playing in a major is 'easy'

Can you ask your buddy why Brooks puts on the act of openly acting like a cocky d00che who is too cool for school? I trust sources that say he isn't this way behind the scenes, just curious why he would adopt that as his shtick?

I'm sure he gets enjoyment out of it seeing people's reaction. In the same realm as why Tiger arguably acted the same way to a degree with competitors and with media for the majority of his career.

My perception with Brooks is he's kinda easily annoyed, and gets especially annoyed by media and the narratives they push.

Mostly mental mindset

Super confident about how good he was....kinda like a play the part...see it, act it, speak it, perform it....just constantly was in the zone

This, he always gave me millennial "Nick Saban" vibes. Guess I tend to admire the guys who appreciate everything a little more and realize they are living a dream, as grinding as it may be. You can place dead last, and often times you're still taking home what the average American makes in a year.

Yeah, played there a few years ago...not a great course for spectators

The jungle comes up to the cart path sometimes and its so damn thick your golf ball can bounce off of it lol
Bunk Moreland

Valero open feels that way too. Lots of activity near the clubhouse but there's stretches of that course where nobody really follows the players to.

So you're comparing attendance to the tournament right before the masters that maybe one or two top 30 on PGAT players play in and is pretty much guys trying to punch a last second ticket to the masters to LIVs first event of the year where all their top guys are playing in? I don't see any way LIV makes it past 2024.
Bunk Moreland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
JFC i'm just talking golf, ya hardo. I'm saying it's a course that isn't friendly for spectators to walk the entire property. Read nothing more or less into it than that.

lol

might wanna check the previous fields before you post something wrong like this

lets not forget this LIV tournament is in MEXICO. That plays a huge factor in attendance

ETA: Finau, Rory, Spieth, Bryson, Hideki all played Valero last yr
