Next event in Orlando the week before The Masters which is also interesting since not all of these guys like playing the week before a major.

Found that interesting too but it's probably one of the more opportunistic weeks to hold a tournament if you're LIV so they have to do it. They also have to consider more than just the Masters winners/exempt players in their field.

Now if only they'd actually promote the event by running ads on social media and tv

They are shooting for the soft weeks in the PGA schedule, which on one hand is smart but on the other hand those are usually soft weeks for a reason. Especially those surrounding majors.

Per the Fire Pit Collective, questions from LIV golfers about their tour's business model and plans. Had a group meeting in Tucson.

I'm curious what kind of advertising you're proposing. I assume they probably ran spots on the CW (although I don't know that) because most sports runs spots on the networks they air on. But are you suggesting ads on, say, ESPN telling people to tune into the CW this week to watch LIV? I'm not sure I can think of any sport that does something like that--take out advertising on networks they have no affiliation with just to tell you to tune into another channel. Are channels even inclined to sell that type of advertising to a competitor? I honestly don't know.

Anyway, knowing the schedule is kinda the bare minimum for a fan and if a league can't count on their fans to take it upon themselves to even know when they play, they got big problems. Particularly for something like LIV, which only has a handful of events a year. I mean, just about any sport other than football, you have to take it upon yourself to know when they are playing and where it is on TV.

I'd be blowing up advertising on Instagram & Twitter, and looking for tv spots on any cable channel/network that isn't fully coordinating to collude against my product.

This feels like Carlos Correa leaving Houston to go to Minnesota. Sure he cashes out big time but does the casual fan care or is even aware of what he does there. Mostly forgotten. Same with these guys that jumped to LIV - even more-than-casual golf fans aren't aware where or when they are playing or care what it means to win an LIV event.

For some they don't care about legacy or being forgotten - this is winning the lottery for them. But especially for others still with PGA - sticking with the analogy - do they really want to play in Minnesota. Unless LIV really ups some parts of their tour - prestige, visibility, buzz level - I don't see them picking off many more big name PGA players.

I did find it comical that CW elected to go to Family Guy reruns instead of continuing to air the playoff. I was watching on DirecTV and it cut away right before the final putts of the first playoff hole.

Watching on the App now but I wonder how many viewers they lost because of that.
they switched for like 30 seconds in Houston then went back to LIV. Obviously someone at CW screwed up for a few seconds.
What do you boys want for breakfast BBQ ?.....OK Chili.

watched some on Saturday and was flipping between March Madness, Valspar and LIV on Sunday. LIV shows a LOT more golf shots than the PGA broadcast. Liked the team aspect a lot as well.

It's real easy to show more golf shots when you have no sponsorship for your tournament. LIV is simply lighting cash on fire to broadcast their product.

Apparently Paulina Gretzky was the main attraction this past weekend in Tucson and she couldn't help LIV golf's TV ratings.

The upside to having no one interested in coming out to watch you play is that you can pee as needed

I'm in insurance and knew I had seen XPT somewhere before. Somebody is trying too hard:

Quote:

XPT partner and PGA tour member Adam Schenk finished this weekend's Valspar Golf Tournament as runner-up ahead of Jordan Spieth. Schenk's extraordinary lead going into the weekend showed his strength and commitment nearly winning him his first PGA Tour event.

Just as Adam competed until his last stroke, XPT is a partner team by your side showing strength and commitment creating seamless solutions.

I actually saw a commercial for the liv event on the golf channel last week. Likely a local spot as they referenced channel 39.

I've walked up on multiple pga pros pissing in the woods when the shell used to be held at GCOH, however not right off the tee box. When you gotta go you gotta go.

LIV Golf drew 274,000 viewers on The CW for its final round from Tucson on Sunday after averaging 284,000 for the second day on Saturday, according to a source citing Nielsen numbers. LIV's Friday coverage streams on The CW app and other digital mediums. These Nielsen numbers do not include out-of-home viewing or the number of people streaming the event.

Data viewed by SBJ showed that 24% of U.S. households were unable to watch LIV on tradition television because their local CW affiliate did not carry it during its 1-6pmET window. That equates to 29 million homes, per sources. For LIV's debut event this season in Mexico last month, The CW averaged 286,000 viewers for its Saturday round and 291,000 for Sunday.

LIV plans to release its own data on viewership later this week.

Holy cow. Seems like a fair chance of not being enforceable but no idea why someone would sign something like that.

Everything surrounding LIV seems to be exaggerated or inflated. Would not be surprised if this is inflated greatly.

LIV Golf maintains that some of its players still want to play on the PGA Tour.

But with the exception of playing a one-off event in a player's hometown or somewhere they have had success; many LIV golfers seem content to play their 14 plus majors and call it a season.

None want to play a full season on the PGA Tour, which is good because their LIV contracts, while not prohibiting them from playing a full schedule on another tour, does force them to honor their commitment to LIV and if for some reason they wanted to leave LIV, the penalty clause is two, three or four times their signing bonus to break their agreement.

This penalty clause effectively keeps the players part of the LIV stable until the contract expires after the 2025 season.
