The list includes Sarazen, Hogan, Jack, Player, Tiger & Rory (2025).
- Rory needs The Masters
- Spieth needs the PGA
- Phil needs the US Open
- Rahm needs the PGA & Open
- DJ needs the PGA & Open
- Koepka needs The Masters & Open
- Morikawa needs The Masters & US Open
- Xander needs The Masters & US Open
Who will be next?
Rahm - needs to get back on the PGA Tour to shake off the rust of not regularly playing in big events, but he's still young enough to do it.
Koepka - See Rahm, Jon.
Interesting you left off Bryson's LIV struggles
Bryson DeChambeau =2025 : 2 top 5s in 2 major opportunities this year.
2024 : 3 top 5s in 4 major appearances
5/6 majors = top 5 or wins. LIV has been horrible for him too right?
Jon Rahm = 2025 : 2 top 15 finishes out of 2 majors opportunities.
2024 : Top 5 Olympic finish, 1 top 10 in 3 majors opportunities. Also had a foot injury and subsequent infection.
I love
Figjam, but the man is 55 years old. He's been competitive at the highest level way longer than he should have. Arnold didn't win a PGA event after 43. Nicklaus last PGA tour win was 47. They both played the senior tour like gangbusters at 50 and never looked back to the PGAT other than the Masters. Something Phil should have done. Except he won a major at 50 which probably screwed his competitive playing outlook. Tiger's last win was at 43.
DJ is like saying playing golf was a bad decision for John Daily. Reality is John Daily and DJ were the problems with themselves. All the talent in the world, not a lot of want or commitment or drive. Happy to be rich and living a good life. And honestly, other than the drugs and excessive partying, that's not a horrible life outlook if a person can keep to the straight and narrow (which they can't).
There's lots of reason high talent golfers or other sports personalities fade out. The name at the top of their paycheck usually is way down the list to age, health, injuries, personal strife, and other life choices.
