My irons are 20 years old and looking for new ones. I'm lucky if I break 100 but I feel like it's time for an upgrade. Anyone have any suggestions for a casual golfer?

If you want to hit an 7i further than you've ever hit one before, go Callaway Rogue X

I don't care what Brand or model you put in the blank, that is such a ridiculous thing to say. No one club suits everyone. And there are a number of great clubs manufacturers and models out there.

Where did you make that leap in logic? I think somebody got their wee little feelings hurt.

If you are in the Dallas area, I have a set of Mizuno JPX 919 Hot Metal 4-PW that are about to become my garage set.

Holy moly the lofts on irons have gotten stronger in the last decade.
My 7i from 2011 is 35*
Most 7i I'm seeing now are between 28-30* with Titleist T400 hitting 26*.
My Mizuno JPX 921 Tours are 34* on the 7i... The regular Hot metal versions of mine are 29*Furlock Bones said:

got roasted by my regular golf group for calling an A wedge an attack wedge last weekend...even though it's a term used by a lot of the club manufacturers. Attack/Approach both proper termsHubert J. Farnsworth said:Furlock Bones said:

Your average PW these days in these new iron sets is 45*. Used to they were normally around 48* and people would have a 52 and 56 to round out their wedges. A lot of sets now include a 50* approach(gap) wedge due to the 45* PW's.

1) take a few lessons first. Will save future headaches and frustrations
2) get fitted after you know how to swing a club. This was my mistake. I got fitted before taking lessons. I got 3* upright lie on all my clubs and bought expensive af p790's with steelfiber shafts. If i had taken lessons first, probably wouldnt have needed all the bells and whistles
3) id get a used set of game improvement irons honestly if you arent looking to get fitted and buy nice new irons later down the road. For your level where you are now, i dont think its essential to have the next greatest club for you to play better.
Lessons will improve your game more than anything else.
