Are these still a thing? My father passed away in February and I was cleaning out his golf stuff, and I found a box of 24 of these balls, along with an extra couple sleeves. I've never played one before but I know they were all the rage for a while.

Anyone still playing them?

I will play whatever I find and I did find a few in my bag this weekend when cleaning it out and getting ready for a guy's trip on Cinco de Drinko

Do they find the trees, water, and sand as well as the expensive golf balls when I hit them?

It depends on when they were purchased. They were basically proV knockoffs and great, got sued for violating all sorts of patents, then have been pretty much crap ever since. Their good run was pretty short and it's been 5-6 years since it happened

If they are the 4-piece, then they are probably pretty decent. If they are the 3-piece, they aren't anything that most good players would use.

Look for "v2.0" on the box. That indicates the newer version. The original versions were very similar to Pro V1s in performance. The 2.0 version is noticeably shorter off the driver and irons, but still spins like crazy off wedges. I keep some in the bag for par 3 holes over water and add a club when teeing off. If it's wet, then I only lost a $1 ball. If it's off the green, then I can be more aggressive with my wedge. Also worth using in a scramble if your short game is the strongest one in the group and you're not the longest hitter. It's not a bad ball if you use it in those rare situations where you need the spin more than the distance.

Somebody at my club is still playing them because I've found 3 in the last couple of weeks.

I'm not good at all so they're perfect for me. I just picked up 4 boxes earlier today.

$28 per box (24 box). Damn good deal.

Get them when you can find'em, because Costco has stopped selling the Kirkland Golf Balls....the store manager told me that Bridgestone was the maker and they raised their prices too much for them to make money.

This must be very recent because my wife just bought me a box for my birthday two weeks ago. I love the Kirkland balls.

I've got several dozen, and like them a lot. However, it is true that the Pro V1 is longer off the tee (the advantage off of irons is less pronounced). Now I play both, hitting the Pro V1 on holes where I really need the extra 10-15 yards, and/or where losing a ball is a bit less likely. On shorter shots I can't tell the difference.

In comparison, I played the Bridgestone E6 prior to switching to Kirkland and I don't see a difference in distance.

I go to this site for everything. if they're wrong, well, I'm not making teh Tour anytime soon, anyway.

Lower launch, higher spin, moderately high compression (94).

But, CHEAP!

I have a few dozen in my shag bag, so when I blade one into the crap, I don't feel bad about not finding it.

I'm not sure if this is the new ball or not, but the box is different than the V2 versions I use all the time.

These aren't available in yellow, so perhaps it's the exact same as V2 just in a new box. These are more expensive (35 v 28) than the v2 balls my wife bought me for my birthday three weeks ago.
