Has anyone ever used ship sticks to ship their clubs?

I've never flown with my clubs before and am thinking about trying them out, but was hoping to get some feedback first.

I know travel bag/cases aren't too expensive and people do it all the time, but I will have my wife and 9 month old with me on this trip with it being my 9 month old's first time flying. Trying to avoid the extra hassle of flying with clubs. It will be stressful enough.

Thanks advance!

Yes, Ship Sticks is golf board approved. Put an air tag in your bag.

I've never used them because it's never made economic sense.

Definitely paying for the convenience.

I've been all over the US and to Ireland and Scotland with checking my clubs and have never had an issue.

Just used them last week and had a good experience. If you can plan in advance, they will run promotions throughout the year and you can get some decent discounts.

I'm going to ship going to ABQ in a couple months because we have a very tight connection and I don't have faith my bag will make it. Don't want to be without them for Paako Ridge

This is one instance where I would use Ship Sticks. Otherwise, I think it's just wildly expensive.

Never used ship sticks but for me it doesn't get much better than flying with your clubs for free on Southwest. AirTag and go. Never had issues.

Playing golf on a trip where you're traveling with your wife and 9 month old? Where did you find this unicorn…asking for a friend.

Had two guys use them for our Bandon trip. Neither set showed up. Shipsticks paid for their rental but still disappointed to play Bandon with rentals.

Same. Only time I worry is if there is a plane change.

I am also retired and play daily, so don't like to be without clubs for a couple of days leading up to a trip.

Used them to go to Bandon. Shipped them on express a week ahead of time and they were there three days before I arrived. Did fly home home with them on Southwest so only paid one way on ship sticks. No way was I going to play Bandon with rentals.

Used them once to play RTJGT at Ross Bridge. Worked just as advertised. The guys at the golf course didn't know what to do though so I had to ask them so search for them.. it took them a 15 minutes but the bag was there in the cart barn still in the box.

So ship them straight to the course and give the pro shop a heads up the clubs are coming.

That sounds like a good plan.

I'm going to Hilton Head and every flight that works has a 30 minute window to change planes. That obviously does not work.

Used them several times.....Streamsong in Florida, TPC Las Vegas, Greensboro, NC etc. always on time never a problem. Call the destination club ahead of time to let them know clubs will be arriving. I would recommend buying golf bag shipping tag holders from Amazon. Inexpensive way to protect the shipping label.

How far in advance do I have to let go of my clubs, say for a central Texas to west coast trip? I usually like to have them up to a few days prior to a big golf trip.

Depends how quick of shipping you choose. You can pay a ton an overnight them or go ground and have it take 5 days. When you choose it'll show you arrival date along with cost.

I'd bet on not having them for about a week prior if you want to be sure they make it. This is actually the reason I don't use them. Paying $140-160 for a round trip and not having my clubs for about 5 days before or after the trip is a dealbreaker for me.

I think I've decided to just get a bag/case and fly with them.

Any recommendations on brands? Soft vs hard?

I've been looking at club glove currently.

Club Glove Last Bag with a stiff arm. ShipSticks is insanely overpriced in my opinion

Whatever you do, do not get a hard case.

I have the Club Glove collegiate and love it. Somehow got it for a steal on ebay; it had Texas A&M already embroidered on it and was new with tags.

In any case, you can't go wrong with them. There is collegiate, large pro, and xl pro as size choices. I'd say the size largely depends on your golf bag. Collegiate is great for most stand bags; if you have a really large stand bag or cart bag, i'd go Large Pro. Extra room is nice to put some clothes, etc in too, but a travel bag that your golf bag is swimming in offers less protection.

It truly limits your rental car variety

Agree. I do have a hard case and you pretty much have to get a full size SUV for those to fit.

Fair enough. I guess I could see that.

I have a hard case, but have never had any issues (only actually used it 5-6 times). I travel constantly for work, so I'm almost always upgraded on the car anyway. At least a full-size and usually an SUV or similar.

Yeah, I'm a hard case guy and the only issue is the vehicle you have to get at your destination.

But, since I went hard case 7 or 8 years ago, I haven't once worried about the condition of my clubs when they come off of the plane. I had a good soft case before and I know people swear by Club Glove, but there was always a little worry when I traveled with my clubs that way.

I have collapsible clubs for this reason. I just fold my clubs and pack them in a regular suitcase.

Lot of effort y'all are putting into this when you could just carry it with you on the Beechcraft Premier
