I've been around golf my entire life. I grew up and played competitively in Dallas. I spent 15+ years in the golf media, from newspapers to TGC. I still only know one member at Preston Trail. And one at Lochinvar. I have heard of people who are members at either club, but even that number is small.

There was a Lochinvar story circulating a few years ago about a new female postal worker who was assigned to that route. She only delivered mail at Lochinvar for one day. Calls were made and she was replaced by a male postal worker.

At least Preston Trail allows women in the clubhouse once a year!

Not in the least. That's their business. They can do whatever they want to do.

True story ... I was asked to leave the old Columbian Club in Dallas 40 or so years ago because I was not Jewish. They thought I was. Then they asked my member friend who I was a guest of if I was Jewish, and he said no. I was gone in 5 minutes.

I've been fortunate enough to be able to play PT often. My dad was very good friends with a member. I'm not sure I ever saw more than 8-10 other golfers on that course during an entire round.

I heard about that, but the details of the story were slightly different - for years there was a male postal worker that delivered the mail, then one day a black female postal worker was assigned to it.

They told her that she couldn't be on the property and she became incensed because she felt that it was because she was black. They told her, no it isn't because you are black, its because you are a woman. Sometime later a small mailbox was installed right outside the gate.

I'm not sure which version is accurate as I've never played Lochinvar, but I know Clyde Drexler is a member there and it is focused on being a golf club and not a country club.

Bump…Played Greatwood today and it was fine. Although a lot of the hole locations were very difficult on the slant…had one put go a foot past the hole and it rolled back down almost to where I was…ha.

$48…can't complain.

It was made known to me that the Lochinvar membership has 2 rules that are absolutely abided by and pretty much anything else goes:

• Men only - I was told that our female designer wasn't even allowed on property to see the final work
• Must wear pants in the dining room

Butch Harmon was the Pro there for a very long time, but picked up and moved to Las Vegas after taking some heat over the "Men Only Policy" when Tiger turned pro and there was a Nike commercial campaign where he voiced over "there are still some clubs where I can't join due to the color of my skin"

I was a member at Lochinvar for 7 years and you did not have to wear pants in the dining room. Women are only allowed on site twice a year, for a Thanksgiving dinner and for one day around Christmas, so they can shop for their husbands.
