Maybe this belongs in the i hate golf thread, but what do you guys do when you just don't have your swing on the course?

My 2 flaws that creep a in are stalling on the turn during the downswing or a slight slide forward in the downswing. Both usually caused by tempo.

Every time I try and slow down i end up snap hooking it and just cant get a rhythm.

Thoughts, besides drink more and relax?

Just keep swinging and working on it. I'm not going to be on Tour anytime soon and I can't get better sitting at home.

Specifically when it comes to tempo, I will go to a half or 3/4 swing just to move the ball forward and straight. Confidence builder.

I am able to diagnose a lot by ball flight but when on hole 5 its just frustrating not knowing WTF i am doing. Then tomorrow I'll go out and pure every shot.

Snap hook from slowing down.....used to call it smothered hook. Bobby Jones talks about this phenomenon in his book "Bobby Jones on Golf" the best how to play golf instruction book in history. He teaches how to play golf more so than how to swing. He says you can't try to swing slow or easy. Having said that....

Golf swing works when you have the right tempo and timing. This is what's different everyday not your swing mechanics. Once you find the right tempo and timing, incorporating the cadence of one - two in your preshot routine is the way to go. If you watch Tiger in his prime, he would make two back and through preshot swings with a very slow transition. Obviously the preshot routine swing isn't identical to his real swing, but I believe he's trying to feel the transition.

Feeling like your Slowing down will often result in a hook because your body is Slowing down and your arms out race your body...that's how you hit the snap hook

I wouldn't tinker on the course. If u did it on the range and your not doing it on the course it's a mental issue. Take a deep breath and keep your same feels as u had on the range.

A feel that helps me with tempo is I try to feel the weight of the club head through the swing. This helps me be less tense because if my muscles are tense I lose the feeling of how heavy the club head is
