Foot Soreness After Playing

Last 5 or 6 times I've played I have noticed some pain in the ball of my foot only under my big toe. I only have the pain on my right foot (back foot during swing). I coincidentally got new shoes about the same time I noticed this but can't say for sure if it's the shoes because I hadn't played in a while before getting new ones.

Anyone have this issue and find a shoe that helped? I see different styles of "ball of foot" pads or inserts, going to try these first just wanted to know if anyone prefers a certain one?

I had same thing , same foot, but it was the ball of the second toe. Podiatrist said I have the start of bunions and put a steroid shot in and recommend an indoor with a metatarsal pad.

Did the insoles make a difference for you? I don't play enough to get a steroid shot but know it could come to that as I work on my feet and wear work boots so that doesn't help. But only have foot pain after playing

Hard to say if insoles helped or if it's the steroid shot. I only have the insoles on my golf shoes. On my running shoes I gouged out part of the stock insole that's right under my hot spot per docs advice. Not sure how much each has helped, But I've had zero pain since my visit.

I get this occasionally...ball of foot is a killer pain point when it is present. It just goes away. I would give your shoes a chance to break in. No coincidence this appeared with new shoes - make sure they are the right shoes and don't have some correction in them (some brands do).

And once you start having foot pain, you're gonna have to find a pair that are just awesome for your feet and rotate them out frequently. Try different brands, find ones that work. For me, it's Asics Kayano, which I realize are not golf shoes, but you get my point. I rotate to new shoes about every 4 months. I don't wait until they are garbaged up...if I let them go that long the cushion and stability flares things up like the toe thing and plantar fasciitis.

I had gout at 30. Was so bad I threw up from the pain trying to put on a shoe. Go see a doctor. If it's gout, get on Allopurinol. It's cheap and will keep it from happening again.

Yeah I'm going to bring it up next time I have an appointment. Was yours flaring up specifically when you played golf or was it an every day issues?

Was just random. Don't let it linger. Those crystal build up and the surgery to have them removed is not pretty.

I get it and it comes and goes. Mine is mostly under my pointer toe and these help a ton when it flares up:
