Eclectic is an all star or ringer round. I'm +6 gross in it, and net -22 going into the week thanks to my handicap for each hole.
The leader going into the week hasn't shown up since he made up 22 strokes to go to -23 three weeks ago. Three of us are tied at -22, and two more are in striking distance at -20.
Tied my 2nd best score on the front 9, at 45. This week I've shot 44/45/45 on the front, 44 being my best. Unfortunately, I couldn't make up any strokes on the 3 holes that could help most.
The back is normally 5 strokes worse, but this week I've been a dozen worse to go with my great fronts. 11/13/15/16-18 are my opportunities. 11 & 16 are par 5's, I get 2 strokes on, but have had birdie opportunities on both, on 16 last week to get to -24, but missed both the Birdie and Par putts.
I double bogey 10 & start pressing, hook the tee shot on 11 and end up taking a 9. Miss into a hazard on 12 but save bogey. Miss the tee shot in the short right rough on 13, 20 under my average. 180 out with a shaky 5H, I press by trying to stretch my 6i, my best club lately, 15 past it's average, but with a 10mph tailwind. I loft it, but cant really see the landing and what I can leads me to believe I might be in the trap guarding the right side of the green as I've left the shot a bit right of where I'd aimed, despite a bit of a draw. I see a ball next to the trap and hope I can get up and down for a par and tie for the lead. In the other cart is one of the guys I'm tied with, who's had a rough round. As I head for my ball I see what I think is his, on the green. Turns out I'd finally hit a "great" shot and it's my ball pin high, 17' right of the pin on one of the straighter sections of the green, but downhill.
I leave the putt 3" just past the hole and tap in for
Par to tie for the lead. The other guy pars 15 to catch me, and we hack our way through 18 never really threatening to improve. I'm listed first of the T1's but not sure if/how they are breaking the tie.
TLDR: Just missed a 17' putt to win outright, so I'm in a three way tie for the win!
