Bought a box of AVX to try out this weekend. TexAgs never fails! Thanks guys!
I played them back around the same time and liked them. Bought some last year to try again and i agree, i hate the feel of them. Feels almost like hitting a range ball.Hubert J. Farnsworth said:
Did they change something with the Srixon Z-Star over the last few years? I used to like playing with them back around 2015-2016 because they had them in the clubhouse where I live and I liked the way they played. I moved to Pro-V1's after they quit selling them. The clubhouse started selling the Z-Star again recently, so I bought a sleeve to try them out. I didn't like the way they felt. They didn't feel good and my iron distances were all off with them(mostly way short). With the driver, they were a good 15 yards shorter. I went back to the Pro-V1 and distances went back to normal.
have you given the chrome tour x a try? Heard that one is pretty great and combines a bit of both the x and ls. The regular chrome tour is different.Old Sarge said:
Callaway CSX LS.......
....and they are doing away with it. Just switched to this ball a couple months ago and LOVE IT. Figures.
Your local course should sell sleeves of these in the proshop.GigEmJake17 said:
Want to give the new TP5s, Bridgestones, and Chrome tours a try. Wish it wasn't so hard to buy a single sleeve of each.

Looking at the Callaway vids (Wunder?), and talking with Callaway on the phone, the Tour is supposed to be the "replacement" for the X LS. Not in stock in my town by sleeve save one pro-shop, but they only had the Tour, or I'd have bought a sleeve of each Tour and Tour X.GigEmJake17 said:have you given the chrome tour x a try? My course has about 5 practice holes so I'll get out there the next couple weeks and start a comparison of the X LS vs the CT. If I don't like it compared to the X LS, I'll wait for a sleeve of Tour X and give that a shot. If neither work for me, I've got 2 dz. X LS to run through as I explore Titleist and Taylormade for replacements.

What's a good ball for 153 mph Club Head Speed? (with driver)
You may have already figured this out by now, but Kirklands spin like crazy. Not exactly a great distance ball for desperation shots over water.Ag_in_Moscow said:
Played Kirkland some. I bought a few dozen a couple of years ago and still use them selectively. However, I found a like-new ProV1 a couple of summers ago and played a few holes for the heck of it. I proceeded to hit my longest-ever drives on 4 or the next 5 holes, and realized I might be leaving something on the table. I still like the Kirkland on any shot but the driver, but I'm now playing ProV1, saving the Kirkland balls for practice and "let's see if I can get this 3-wood over the lake" shots.
Then last summer I found a left-dash. Played 27 holes straight with it and was hitting it miles. Seriously thinking about ponying up the extra $20 to get a dozen of them (but $75/dz stings). On the 67th hole, BTW, I thought to myself "wow! I can't believe I've played 26 holes without losing a ball! I don't think I e ever done that before!" I don't need to tell you what happened on hole #27…
Pretty much every year in Feb-March Titleist does a buy 3 get 1 dozen deal.MW03 said:
I bought a sleeve of ProV1s before my round today to try out. The price has always put me off, and I've been terrified of the spin as an average golfer. I was playing them today against my standard Srixon Z Star Diamonds and some Callaway Chrome Softs.
After giving them a ride today, I have to say that I'm converted. By far my best round with my driver. By far my best round with my wedges. Better ball flight. Better spin. Hit my best drive ever in a round as well. I get it now, and I know what I'm going to ask for when it comes to presents for pretty much every holiday going forward, and that's a box of ProV1s.
