They sent out an update about 10 days ago. Some of the fairways are a long ways off from being close to ready but they have laid the grass for the new tee boxes. No timeline update regarding when any of it will be playable.

No prob. They shared a photo of 18 from the right side probably 110 out and I know it's been sprigged but man it looked like straight dirt.
Paspalum is a slow grower so be patient, but when it's fully grown in you will all love it.

Heard from a neighbor that Traditions got about 2 inches of rain from Beryl.

I understand grass company is saying all is going according to plan. I rode around in cart and looked at it yesterday. Lots of very small new growth just starting to show. There are some areas where seems like not growing but amazing how much it has changed in a week. I assume those areas will sprout soon as well.
If it grows in and plays the way Black Jack does in Lajitas that course just improved 10-fold. Fairways out there are like hitting off carpet. Hope it works out for the members.
Platinum Paspalum is an excellent turfgrass for golf.
It is tolerant of high salt levels in irrigation water and the Brazos Valley groundwater sure qualifies as salty.
Paspalum grows roots extensively and it a very vigorous grass.
I would not characterize it as a slow grower - it is one of the best and fastest grasses to fill in a divot for example due to its rhizome growth.
Paspalum is starting to gain traction in the turfgrass world.

I think it will be a game changer for Traditions if they maintain it properly.

- what I should have said is slower to establish from sprigs than bermudagrass, at least in my limited experience it was.

Why didn't they just go with Kentucky Bluegrass, feathered bent crossed with a Northern California Sinsemilla?
That's a Carl Spackler special. Only he knows the secret to growing it.

Anyone know why the brazos valley seems to have the salt water issue when plenty of places closer to the coast dont?
High salt and bicarbonate levels in ground water. Water and soil have always been a factor around the bcs for some reason. High calcareous soils that don't leach without significant rainfall. Pouring crappy water on crappy soil is a recipe for crappy growing conditions without adequate rainfall.

The new platinum paspalum tees and greens at Pebble Creek have taken very well.
Any updates on when they wil open play?
Group sprigging wasn't starting until 9 am (was supposed to start daily at 6) so anything that went down in afternoon is dead on arrival. Tanner caught it but hearing they're at least a month behind schedule. Women's Golf Association moving their fundraiser event to spring to avoid issues with new growth. But yeah once it's fully in we'll love it.

What I saw a few weeks ago wasn't anywhere close to looking right.
Spriggs didn't take. Now having to sod. Probably March/April before really ready to go.

Wow - wonder why that wasn't in the monthly newsletter.
Course might be on an ancient burial ground. Probably just need to relocate to a different part of town.
Where are the teams practicing?
They still have the practice area uphill from the range I'd assume
If not then most likely Miramont. A&M range shut down and I don't ever see them at Pebble.
Wow. Embarrassing for all involved in that operation.
