Bro and I may be coming into BCS Friday afternoon on an errand and were thinking about tacking on a 4pm-ish round of golf. Wondering if anyone has played it recently? I haven't played it since 2017, but it was in great shape at the time. Has it held up? Surely all the rain has helped.

I haven't played it in a couple of months but it's never in bad shape. The only thing that varies out there is the rough thickness/length.

Only thing I'd be worried about at 4pm is the temperature.

Students are getting back. I'd make that tee time now.

I was out there Monday. Greens were in good shape but they were punching the front. Assuming the back was going to be next…
Everything else was ok. Bunkers not being maintained and anything off the fairway is not being mowed often enough.

Played it about 10 days ago. I thought it was in very good shape. The lack of student play is plus, both in time and condition, as the fairways weren't filled with huge, unrepaired divots. We ( 2 olds ) played in 3 hours, which is nice, because it's going to be smokin' hot.

Planning on playing campus course Saturday. Any recent updates on the condition of the course? Is the greens punching filling in, or do we plan on awarding putts on last second bounces to our group?
"Green" is the new RED.

I would imagine they are still going to have some bump in them. Usually don't see complete healing until around 21 days.

I played last weekend, 8/3&4. The greens rolled perfectly then.

Have they been punched since?

They punched them on the 5th and 6th of August

Green Punching Destiny.

Was going back in June, and rumor had it they were going to be punched in that maintenance week. Work happened and I was unable to get to CS that weekend. So, now I'm going to be headed that way, and they just get punched.

ETA: this (timing of punching) has happened to me at other out of town courses I rarely get to play. Look forward to it, show up and "we just aerated our greens this week, earlier than we thought we'd be doing it this year…."

They were also scheduled to take delivery of a new cart fleet those days. I thought that was why they were closed.

Whether the greens work included full plug pulls again or just the tine punches will determine how well they roll this weekend, as they should be near fully healed from the latter.

They did get all new carts.
It was a core punch

The midsummer punches usually heal quickly at least. The warm overnight temps, full sun days, and plenty of water dumped on it keep that bermuda healing

Played the Campus Course this afternoon. For being punched under two weeks ago, the greens rolled really well. Only issue with greens was it looked like the equipment used to punch them, or a mower, had some sort of oil or hydraulic leak that ended up burning some spots on several greens before it was caught.

Also, several fairways were "crisp" to say the least. Are they having some irrigation issues?

Overall it was a fun round. Lordy, it was hot though. The new carts are nice.

Another update. Played this last weekend. Large parts of fairways still "crispy" and the first part of the rough the same. However, the greens are in really good shape and roll true and are pretty slick, especially with any downhill. All effects of punching a month ago...gone. The rough on the sides and back, punishing. Sand bunkers are average condition with some being damp logged and others complete fluff.

Played a different course the week before and 3 of the par 3's were par or birdie with much smaller greens. Played the Campus course and on the front 9 shot 43 with triple and double on the par 3s. WTF? Almost worthy of a F-Golf post, but parred the #1 hdc hole with ease at the turn and then wheels off the rest of the way so not worthy of an official F-golf, but close.

Been back at it for almost a year after a decade plus break and trying to get consistently back in the 80s after starting again in the triple digits. Still have work to go. Love the Campus Course.

Yeah, the par 3s have some teeth. Most are decently long and into the prevailing south wind most days. My overall score out there generally follows how well I play the par 3s.

Played two rounds this past weekend. The greens are basically perfect right now. The entire course is running pretty firm and fast. Yes, there are some crispy, hot spots tee to green. It appears the new super has done a significant amount of irrigation repairs in the past ~30-60 days. The slightly cooler temps and even just a little rain would do wonders.

Agree 100% on the greens. They were stimping 11.5, and I didn't see a blemish on one of them. I played there this past Saturday morning
