Decided to commit to working on my swing this winter.

Really bad about opening chest too soon and getting super steep. Also early extending. Bought a mat and net a couple weeks ago.

Every night I go out and will do 4 slow exaggerated swings and hit 1 ball, until I get to 100 swings combined.

Super frustrating at first… I could not stop ripping chest open to save my life. Finally starting to see a glimmer of hope after last night.

Just wanted to share, as I was beginning to think I'd never be able to shallow the club out.

Hard to tell from this angle but I would bet your weight shift to the back leg (left in your case) is potentially giving you some issues. This can lead to many problems. A teaching pro with pressure plates can show you exactly how much you are shifting. I would be 98% of amateurs have issues with this.

Early extension can be caused by a lazy lower body movement…not necessarily the inability to hold that right angle with the club shaft. A proper quick lower body movement will make an early extension almost impossible, like a whip affect. Fixing this - best done with a teaching pro.

I'm not worried about holding the angle as much as I am trying to not rotate my pelvis towards the ball… that causes me to run out of room at the bottom. Look at the gap between my legs in the steep swing vs the one where it's on better plane… I feel like the second swing I'm rotating trail hip more down the line vs out to the ball.

Also here's a swing from face on. That's from today

Yeah, I saw that…I've been told by a very reputable coach that you want your back leg kneecap to go directly to the back of your front leg knee during the downswing….didnt want to get too crazy describing that, hence the 'go see a coach' recommendation.

It's been 10 days… these things take time. I've got almost a decade of bad habits to undo

In my experience, what you fix on the range gets unfixed right back to your old ways on the course.

It's a futile attempt.

I don't believe a mortal is able to fix these things... unless you do what Nick Faldo did. Hit 1000 balls a day for a year with 6 iron.. I dont now, I thought that's what he did to learn the dog wags the tail swing.
