Playing there on Saturday and haven't played a round of golf in over two years and obliterated my arm a few months ago in the gym but going to make a go of it and see what happens.

Anybody played it and how many balls will I lose? Looks to be a lot of trees in jungle like conditions. Considering I spend very little time in the fairway, what type of wildlife encounters will I have and should I be nervous?

if you hit it in the jungle, leave it. there are lots of critters out there! Beautiful course! i get to play it once or twice a year. it can be a little tough but fun. starts you out with a long par 5 so be ready. Some of the course is ocean front, some in the jungle. contrarily, it is cooler in the afternoon than the morning as you will get some ocean breeze in the afternoon and it won't be stifling humidity. However, this time of year it will probably be raining. you are smack in the middle of rainy season right now.

you will see monkeys and Coatis (cool little dudes) and birds. I have a pic somewhere that my brother took of a big fat Anaconda sunning in the fairway of one of the holes. I haven't seen that one though.

Oh hell nah!!

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like I'll just be dropping a new ball in the fairway all morning. With my current playing condition I'm really just looking forward to the scenery more than anything, except for encountering any anacondas, of course.

I have only played it once. I am a low 90s score golfer. I found it very enjoyable. Resort style set up, meaning the sides of the fairways and fist cut of rough generally slope back to the center of the fairway to help keep your ball in play. We had lunch and drinks in the 19th hole overlooking the marina and it was incredible. Enjoy it!

This was the first international course I've ever played and I absolutely loved it. I've been to some nice resorts in the states like Pinehurst and the Homestead but this course blew those away for me.

The scenery was just incredible and the course super fun even for a hacker like me. And I had one of the best pitch shots of my life that stopped 1 inch from the hole from about 40 yards out. We teed off at 8:30 am and it wasn't all that warm at all. Drizzled through out much of the round but it was actually pretty refreshing.

Our round was cart path only and the carts had GPS systems and one time it got confused on a hole thinking we were off the path and the cart locked up on us. Never experienced that before. Then it did it again when we were on the street trying to find the next hole on the back nine but went the wrong way.

And we stayed at the resort attached to it so it was nice to leave my room and literally walk about 20 yards to the pro shop and get going. My only regret is that I didn't get to play it more than once but certainly hope to go back someday.

Oh, and we didn't see any anacondas but saw a bunch of toucans that I was sure I was going to skull with my ball and at one point something that looked like a big ass ant eater came running down a tree right by us and the next thing you know about 20 more just kept filing down the tree and then took off into the distance as a family.

TL;DR: Ended up being the most fun I've ever had on a golf course and after a 2-3 year hiatus the itch is back!
