Need to walk more…..especially between fall and spring. Recs on push carts and should I break down and buy electric remote cart from the get go.

If money is not an issue and you truly do believe you'll walk often then I don't see why you wouldn't get a remote controlled cart.

This. I have the same one. For $100 it's hard to beat. Remote ones are cool but unless you 80 years old I don't see the point. It isn't that damn hard to push a cart unless you're playing in the mountains or an aggressive hilly course.

How are you supposed to hold your beer without the remote?!

I have over 200 rounds walked in 5 years with it. Still rock solid.

I have the 4 wheeled version of that CaddyTek. I would definitely recommend a CaddyTek. Excellent, rugged carts.

I am really not sure I understand the need for the motorized push carts. Is there some challenge associated with pushing? I walk about 75% of my rounds, and most of those I use my pushcart unless I'm just taking a 6 club sunday bag. Never once have I wished it would go on its own

Come walk with me on my course and you will see when these motorized carts can be helpful. We don't have a flat hole. I don't have one but I'm looking at battery and motor unit attachment for my caddytek.

Another vote for CaddyTek. I walk several rounds a week lately with it and no issues. It also has a drink holder for your beer and an ok cooler bag for more.

An electric cart would be awesome if you need it, especially if you are older. But if you want some exercise in addition to walking, no real need.

Echo not needing a motorized cart BUT I will say that having it is so nice not having to push. Call me lazy or whatever but I feel like I play better with it than pushing a cart. It makes me feel like I'm walking with a caddy not having to push my cart.

It is totally a luxury item, but if you have the disposable income, I couldn't recommend it enough. I also have the MGI Zip Navigator, wish I could have sprung for the one with the follow me feature so I didn't even have to drive it, but that wasn't in the cards for me.

I know this is extreme, but I'm 45 and was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's years ago. With that I have a gait issue/drop foot on the right side. Other than that I'm in pretty decent physical shape. My medicine helps with the foot drop, but if it's waning using my arms naturally to walk is a tremendous help.

You can basically throw me in the "old" group. I don't have an automated/remote/electric cart but have a hard time pulling the trigger because I'd much rather have other new golf toys (putter/driver/driving iron).

I know a lot of guys that love their Caddytek so I would support the recommendation of others even though I haven't used one myself except to push a buddies clubs short distances.

I have had a Sun Mountain for about 20 years and I would guess 500-600 rounds and have only had to add air to the tires and tighten a couple of bolts. I still love it and would buy another one if this one ever fails.

I got an MGI in February and it is awesome. I pushed for years (and carried before that). I'm a fit guy and work out 4-5X per week, but I'm also 50 and have dealt with back issues from time to time over the past 10 years. And one thing I've noticed with the MGI is that walking normally and fully upright has my back feeling better. With the push cart, you're oftentimes typically leaning into it just a bit (especially up hills), and I think playing 2X every weekend (and sometimes a 3rd during the week) with that lean was negatively impacting my back. Thinking the muscles that support that slight lean tighten up, shorten up, and over time the support of the back is a bit out of balance from an anterior/posterior perspective

You also get to feel Tour player-ish when you get a GIR, pull the putter while in the fairway, and walk to the green with just the putter while sending the cart to the next tee lol

All that said, I've owned that Caddytek before and it was always solid.

Honestly, the primary reason I use my own push cart at my home course is because the cart fees are nearly as much as the green fee. Instead of charging a trail fee for golfers to use their own cart, your course might want to look at decreasing their cart fee. They might recapture some of the cart users. I know I'd be more likely to ride if the fee was reasonable.

I bought the bagboy quad XL, and got the eletric alphard conversion down the road.


Just start with electric. It's so nice to be able to just walk, and not carry a bag. You get used to driving it around greens and I got mine all set up with a spare device that has GPS and maps and what not. It makes a half decent caddy.

I play public courses so I haven't seen that.

I have two friends with the same cart and are members of a club. They have e not heard of that happening at their place.

My home course is just over 4.5 miles long with the clubhouse at 6600' elevation and drops down to 6100' elevation and then back up to the clubhouse at 6600'.

Just a reminder, the difference in elevation between Houston and Dallas is ~350'.

Let's just say there are reasons some of us want the cart to push itself


EDIT: All that said I have a Bagboy Nitron non motorized that I love, but will be looking at the alphard motor to add to it this winter in the off season.

However minimal, it still requires physical exertion to push the cart.

If you can afford the luxury of having a motorized pushcart, why the hell not make it easier on yourself?

Another vote for this model. I admittedly opt for a cart most often but when I do walk this thing works like a charm. I got the green version for around $120 on sale.

I have the 3 wheel version and only thing I'd change is having a hand brake vs the lever by the wheel.

Nope walkers and carry are fine, even manual pish cart just walk behind carts. Lots of issues with damage to cars in the parking lot and trenches being made in wet weather as they run it through spots they don't know is wet.

So looks like I'll go with caddytek….thoughts on 3 wheel bs 4?

4 wheels is more stable than 3 wheels. I suppose there might be a size difference when folded, but the 4 wheel folds up pretty nicely. Here's mine folded next to my bag for size reference.

I have both. 3 wheel is easier to maneuver overall.

I would vote 3 wheel as well.
