Have any of you ever messed around with those? I read Mark Broadies book "Every Shot Counts" and I really like the concept of having those deeper statistics at hand and having a much better idea of what you need to work on when practicing. I've never even kept traditional statistics before, but as a statistically minded person, I thought it might be fun to try one of those apps out. Any suggestions or thoughts on those apps?

I love that book and recommend it to anyone who has interest in the strokes gained concept. On the apps, Golfmetrics was Broadie's app. The original version was a bit difficult to use in my opinion. It got an overhaul last year but when it changed my login ability ran into issues and I haven't been able to resolve them as odd as that sounds. In the meantime I started using Golfity and think it is really good and easy to use. Worth checking out.

Anyone use Arrcos for tracking data?

Spider golf app

You have to pay for it and enter all your data in every shot (during or after) but it gives more data than you know what to do with including strokes gained

And u can choose what your strokes gained is compared to-- tour pro, pro, scratch, low single digit

It's really good

I've had Arrcos since v1. I don't have to pay for the subscription, so I'm pretty happy about that. I don't know that I love it enough to pay a recurring subscription.

With the new link they released, it hasn't missed a full club shot for me yet. Where I think it lacks is around the green because it sometimes really struggles to pick up putts. If you don't mind investing a little time in data cleanup, marking the pin and where your putts were from isn't hard, but it isn't nearly as seamless as the full club shots.

I'll definitely keep it until they make me start paying a subscription and beyond the strokes gained stats, the AI caddy is really helpful for me when I'm trying to decide between 2 clubs, it is usually pretty spot on (unless you yip it like I'm prone to do)

Same here except I use the watch. But I do pay. Need to figure out how to get around that.

I bought mine September 2018 and when they switched to subscription was told that wouldn't apply to me as a grandfathered member. Not sure there is another way around it.

big fan of arccos. I do agree that when I bring up the green, i usually have to adjust location and number of putts, but I am willing to do that to get accurate data. It works everywhere else and calculates everything for you and you can really see where you need to practice. it's stupid simple. I do recommend the belt clip accessory so you don't have to always be messing with your phone while hitting...

Apparently Costco has 14 sensors and a year sub for 139 vs a straight up sub at 199 a year. FYI if you want to try it but not at full price

Thanks for the replies. Do any of those apps have GPS tracking for shot distances? How do you measure putting distances?

Golfity does not have GPS that I have seen or used. Basically you just track distance from hole and lie (fairway, rough, etc). For putts I typically do a pretty simple step off as I walk to my ball or estimate. One thing I realized quickly is putts are longer than you think eyeing it.

Psychologists call this phenomenon "ego"

Shot Scope user here. There is no subscription. Buy the watch or belt tracker, club grip tags come with it. Done.

I've been looking into the shot scope. I'd love to find the least intrusive way to track data. I hate fidgeting with devices while I'm golfing. I was looking at just using the Grint app but like the shot scope not having a subscription and the tags doing most of data input.

Anyone know if Shot Scope can upload to GHIN? I'm using the GHIN app right now but it's quirky and has limited data (fairways, putts, GIR).

Not that I'm aware of. Grint was much better at tracking handicap. That's the biggest weakness of Shot Scope. However, tracking shots is very easy and fast. Once you get in the habit, it's not obtrusive at all.
