"Good" being a relative term, need to know what you are hoping to accomplish. Lots of companies make launch monitors and lots of companies have software. It's choosing the combo that suits what you want out of this, and also your budget.

Can't help with the in-person place/person to talk to in Houston, but there is an entire forum just like TexAgs for the golf simulator community. That's who I would talk to before I spoke to a salesperson.

The first thing you need to decide is how much you want to spend because the cost can vary widely. I have a 8' X 13' impact screen, 1080p projector, Uneekor launch monitor, fiberbuilt tee box, gaming computer for gs pro and I'm all in at about $4,500. I did most of the work myself DIY including building the PC.

There are some overhead launch monitors that will cost 2x to 4x the cost of my entire setup. A net, phone app, and Garmin R10 will be about $600 total.

Where is your projector in the cost breakdown?

This was conversion of my media room, so projector was already in there. I just had to move it back due to the larger screen size.

Ah makes sense. We both left out GS Pro subscription too. That's another $250 a year.

Yea, my first year was free with the Bushnell.

Reminds me…I need to cancel a few subscriptions before the auto renew. I prefer the GS Pro over Foresight.

Kinda oh a whim, I just bought a Garmin r50 and a fiberbilt player preferred mat to hit into a net, just gonna use the screen on the Garmin and maybe add a tv to the side for a second screen. Seems like you get Gs3 level data and a built in sim for a lot less. Don't get the great graphics but also no headaches or expensive subscriptions (looks like it is still $10 a month for the Garmin courses) and you get thousands of local courses including my home course, which is cool (albeit without location specifics nice graphics, just actual layouts and greens).

My son has been pushing me for one and I found some random bicycle site that had a 20% coupon (which the specifically excluded all their super expensive segments like bikes and fitness equipment but I guess forgot to include the Garmin stuff as its the only golf product they sell, everything else they sell from Garmin are the $500 max watches. Will see if they actually send it, because no one else is discounting these things given they are still pretty new.

I went full dumb on my set up, Uneekor Eye XO, replacing carpet, custom impact screen, led spotlight, extra TV for ball striking display, the works. I wanted it to look like it was built into the house for resale purposes. I ended up moving out of the house about a year after building it and for a permanent setup, glad I did what I did. House is now under contract and I will be doing something in my new house, but will probably move to a portable launch monitor like the Garmin R50 or Uneekor mini and a TV on the wall and hitting into a net. Wife is trying to convince me to build another fully built in one and set up a bar next to it in our basement, but I am hesitant.

Only piece of advice I can give is this. Get GSPro and join https://simulatorgolftour.com/. It is a lot of fun and keeps you playing rounds in the winter if you can't get on the course (I am in colorado so this is doubly so for me)

You can spend $1k on basic net and entry launch monitor you run through a phone or tablet only.

You can spend ridiculous money to make everything over the top high end including building a space.

You can spend anything in between based on preferences.

There's another thread on here form a month or 2 ago that has a lot more detail and breakdown of what people did. I went budget and have a hitting net and screen, projector, entry launch monitor, tablet, and hitting matt on top of gym rubber matting and turf carpet for $2,300.

My opinion is it allows for 85%+ of all the stats and practice ability as the top systems and unless you're a professional using it for lessons will never know what is missing. Game play is more like video game graphics than 3D lifelike, but that's also pretty dang good. Maybe I'll upgrade along the way. Maybe I won't.

What I know is my daughter now has a daily option to practice her wedges, irons, and woods for about what a weekly cost of range balls over a year would be. And we can play a couple holes together after dinner. And that was the goal.

Amazon Rapsodo MLM2PRO Mobile Launch Monitor $699.99
Amazon BenQ MW632ST WXGA Short Throw Projector $599.00

Would like feedback on the R50 when you get to play around with it. I don't have quite enough space for radar type and not tech savvy-no computer or ipads so I like the all in one setup.

Only negative I've seen online is bending over but I'd just get a long stylis pen. The rest all seem positive on accuracy, ease, etc but very limited since it so new.

for sure, I actually just got word it is shipping so I guess they are good with the $1000 discount which prompted me to just go ahead and pull the trigger, so looking forward to trying it out with my son and will post my thoughts here too. Watched 4-5 YouTubes on it last night and it seems pretty great without the hassle of setting up a full sim situation.

Its was $4,000 plus tax, so $4300. I'm pretty sure this is a pricing error and that code wasn't supposed to apply to this, as I didn't see anyone discounting these before Christmas or now. Says mine has shipped but I don't yet have a tracking number so fingers crossed. Code is on their homepage, CELEBRATE2025

I picked ones these up too. It's very convenient to just use the club for control.

That's all I needed to get it done. Got one too with next day air shipment. Hope that site is legit. I don't cycle.

I have the R10. I enjoyed it but seemed only accurate outside. I didn't like having to set it up and wanted to use it mostly indoors and use for 150 yards and in. The simple graphics are fine by me. The ability to play a course you've played before is great. Being able to visualize being there and swinging at home is cool.

If you're in Houston area let me know. I owe you and your son some golf

Nice! I researched the site too, seemed odd for a bike site to sell that, but I dug around first and all indications I could find that it's a legit place with a real storefront.

I guess if they were gonna cancel mine they would have fixed the coupon code, so that's great, sounds like I'll get mine then! Hard to pass on $1000 off, if only they didn't collect tx tax then it would have paid for the fiberbilt mat entirely instead of $1100 of it!

Now just have to hope it's as good as people are saying so far. I have seen complaints about very short chips shot not registering properly, but that's not why im buying this anyway. Seems everyone says for at least half speed swings and up it's bang on. Would think they will improve it with software updates as well. Wish they had the option for some input other than the touchscreen like you said... one of those swing caddies like pictured above for GSpro would be money.

I don't have proper net setup but this beat it here. I haven't gotten to take full swings yet.

It seems to pick up the chips well. I've hit a few shots less than a yard and it picked it up. You're hitting shots in less than a minute from boot up. Easy to navigate, change parameters, and has some cool videos of the ball contact that I didn't know was a feature. It didn't come with any stickers for the club data though.

I do wonder if shank could damage it though. It gives a large zone to place the ball but I could see my kid putting a ball into it.

nice! I still don't have mine (didn't pay for faster shipping and it's been stuck in the winter storms I guess....). hopeful to get it Friday, but it keeps getting delayed. The stickers should be included, someone online mentioned checking the pocket on the case.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a company who does turn key ready sims?

I have a 3rd garage which would need the garage door raised, a mini split for climate control, sound proofing etc. Then the install.

Does one company do it all versus 4-5 contractors?

I'm an idiot. There's another "pocket" on the side that I felt around in several times wondering what it was and never even noticed the obvious one.

Net should be here soon so I'll play around with it.

You can split screen the external and built in screen. So you could see flight, ball data, club data, and a video of the ball contact without having to take you're hands off the club. Thought that was neat.
