Sand Valley is a great place, really phenomenal all around and right there alongside Bandon which I played a year ago.
Monday: Erin Hills. Just a brute golf course and brutal walk. I've played it twice and that's probably the last time. Erin Hills is missing something. It's not memorable and it's repetitive.
Tuesday morning: Sedge Valley and Sandbox, played both and finished by 10:30. Teed off at 6:42 a few minutes before sunrise. Sedge is a great shorter course that played longer than the scorecard. It might be the toughest of the 3 that are on property; it's demanding on your short game.
Tuesday afternoon: Mammoth Dunes. This has to be the biggest golf course in the world right? 170 yard wide fairways on a few holes, the greens are just massive too and funnel instead of runoff. The most fun you can have up here - make sure the Spotted Cow and tunes are flowing.
Wednesday morning: Sand Valley. The best golf course up here; a blend of Sedge and Mammoth. It's fantastic.
Wednesday afternoon: Lido. You could replicate this golf course on any flat piece of property in the world, so it doesn't feel anything like Sand Valley. But as mentioned, a thought-provoking, strategic course that is penal at the same time. No complaints. But also no alcohol if you aren't a member…yeah you read that right.
Thursday morning: Mammoth again. The fog cleared 30 minutes after we finished our 2:45 minute round. Done by 10:00am. Couldn't see past 125-150 yards the entire morning, but was still a great time.
Make the trip if you can, you won't regret it.
