Planning a trip to Alabama this spring for some golf. What's everyone's recommendations? Is Robert Trent Jones Trail worth the hype?

I've been to RTJ a couple times. I think I've played about seven of the courses. I've never come across anyone else talk about Alabama courses apart from RTJ and Pursell Farms.
I enjoyed all of the RTJ courses I played. I felt like the judge was one of my favorite courses. Ross bridge is nice, but I didn't think it was really worth anything more than the other courses I've been on there.
I want to say that each site allows for a free third round, if you played two rounds on that same day. I might be mistaken and confusing that for Bandon dunes.
I do remember playing one of the courses that was surrounded by lakes, I didn't like that one as much. That also could've been because I wasn't hitting the ball that well on that day.

Which part of the state will you focus on?
I'm still working on the RTJ courses - so far my play has been mostly the ones on the lower half of Alabama. Of those, I enjoyed Cambrian Ridge the most. Its in the middle of nowhere (Greenville), but I had a great day out there and the course was practically wide open so I could play every hole in one day.
In addition to Pursell Farms that the poster above mentioned, Ive heard a few positive things about Cherokee Ridge which is just south of Huntsville.
Also, if you are planning to hit RTJ Hampton Cove in the Northeastern part of the state, Sweetens Cove is just about an hour away across the border in Tennessee. I havent played there either but it gets good reviews as well.

Close to Birmingham will be the main focus. I've heard great things about pursell farms
Oxmoor is a beauty. Be sure to play Ridge as it's very dramatic. The Valley course is a fine course, but it's just just not that special. They have a great par 3 course out there.
Ross Bridge is a really big and grand golf course. To me, it's worth paying extra than playing Valley at Oxmoor. They're right next to each other.

It's been a while since we did a RTJ golf trail trip, but if you're playing the course again that afternoon or the next morning they keep and clean your clubs for you. You cam also probably ship them there instead of travel with them.
They also used to have a pretty decent lunch deal. Our wives would meet us for lunch at the clubhouse.

Played the 2 at Grand National plus par .3. Par 3 was spectacular at sunset playing barefoot last people on the course.
The judge is one of my fave courses ever.

We enjoyed the The Legislator more than the Judge. It plays in and out of pine trees and along a bluff overlooking the Alabama River and the state capital off in the distance. We were also the first group off that morning in pristine conditions for the LPGA tournament with a slight due on the course.
Outside of the opening hole on the Judge, it seemed more like a normal water course in Florida. That opening tee shot is quite awesome and intimidating.
We also enjoyed Oxmoor Valley just as much. We shared the course at twilight with more turkeys and deer than other people.
