JT's game is better this season as he is 8th in the Fed Ex Cup standings, runner up finish at the AMEX and 3 top 10 finishes so far. He wants to be on the US Ryder Cup team this fall. He shot a 31 on his front 9 so far today and trying to make the cut after a tough opening round.

3 top 10s in 6 starts before this. One spot behind Scheffler in Fedex cup points.

It's typically what happens when tour players get married and have kids. they shift focus away from their game in the slightest bit and it has a tendency to fall off.

Speith, JT, Mahan, even Rory to some degree. It happens to a lot of them. It's understandable

JT is not even close to someone I would describe as not caring.

He clearly gets in his own head and is very streaky. When things go wrong, he tends to compound the errors mentally. No doubts about that. But it isn't for a lack of trying or caring. I don't think it's a marriage thing, or a care thing.

Currently 9 under for his last 14 holes, FWIW. Also, again, as stated, he's like 8th in fedex cup standings and 3 top 10s recently. He's actually playing significantly better overall golf than he was 12-24 months ago. Just looked and he's worked himself back into the top 10 in the OWGR. Not sure this OP really has paid attention to him lately.

From +6 and missing the weekend to tied for the course record with a birdie putt opportunity on 17.

He really has not been in contention in several years. But the round today may rekindle his game to where it was 7 or 8 years ago. But we'll see if he can deal with the mental grind. It's been years since he was a contender in a tournament. He's had better results lately but it's not like he was in position to win a tournament. The last tournament he won was more of a case of the leader choking. He has the 2nd most tour wins for those currently playing the PGA tour and it would be big to see him win again.

Missed a five footer on 3 for birdie. Could have shattered the course record.

If he was LIV he would be playing in front of a tiny crowd in the middle of the night.

3 rounds over par with 1 lucky day. Brooks and DJ care more even with the LIV money.

Jt, Spieth and Fowler all would benefit from being in liv. More money, less pressure, more time with family. I dont think any of the 3 will get back to where they are so why not cash in while they still can. All 3 are getting passed up regularly by tour dudes and at this point, they are mainly just names.

They are making plenty of money on and off the PGA tour so no worries about them.

Maybe they care about their legacy more. Nobody will read about and see how many times Joaquin won on LIV in ten years.

DJ? The guy finishing behind Anthony Kim? The same DJ who reportedly hasn't shown his face at Medalist to practice more than a handful of times since joining LIV?

Nobody really cares about who wins any golf tournament outside of the majors and maybe 2 or 3 others. Nobody really cares about who wins the fed ex series. Thomas , Fowler and Spieth need to change things up. They can continue to grind away and end up with early tee times on Sundays. They will remain popular regardless where they play. But Spieth has the wild card that the others don't have and that's lifetime exemption to the masters. I don't ever see them joining LIV, but I also don't see them regularly winning where they are now and realistically, they should be in their prime. Sure, they have the distractions but that's what makes what Rory is doing that much better. PGA leadership stuff, high profile relationship breakup, marriage, kid, divorce, fling with an announcer, reconciliation with wife and he still plays high quality golf.

hell, I would wager LIV wouldn't even want Rickie F at this point. However, if they did it would be wayyyyy less $ than what was offered to him years back. Hindsight I bet he wishes he would've took that offer back then.

Neither extreme really ages well. Just like the same cases for LIV players.

RD2 -10

JT seems to be getting some of the old form back. He just isn't there yet to what most of us remember to be JT. But the flashes have been there this year.

Sounds like it would be perfect for Rory. Less chance of a college kid setting him off.

There are signs of him getting back. Still needs to control emotions letting bad shots go and not affect him later. Also, he needs to relearn to win. 3 shot lead on the back nine and bogeyed 2 of the last 3 holes where he could not find the fairway with his drives. But this was the first time in awhile that he had a lead on Sunday. It will be interesting to see how he plays the masters. He's had good rounds there and his game is perfect for the course. But can he deal with it mentally which has been a problem for him.
