Looking for a new driver after playing the Titleist TSI3 for 4 yrs now. I was thinking about staying in the Titleist family and going to TSR or the newer GT. The dispersion is similar to what I'm hitting now, but the TSR and GT add about 10-15 yards more distance on a sim. I keep hearing and seeing insane reviews about the Darkspeed though and they're so crazy cheap. Just curious if anyone on here is gaming one and thoughts if so.

I use the Darkspeed Max Driver and woods, and Darkspeed Hybrid. Mizuno irons. Absolutely love every club in my bag. The Darkspeeds look great and play even better. If you hit it well on the sim then I'd say go for it, but if you get the same variance with the other drivers and 10-15 more yards, are you just looking to save a little money?

I just switched from a TM Stealth 2 to a Cobra DS Adapt Max K. May not be for you coming from a TSi3, but Cobra drivers are flat out legit.

My son got into golf about a year and half ago and destroyed two old Callaway drivers, so I got him a "new" but out of date LDTX on the cheap. I tried it out for fun and it was stupid easy to hit well. So, got the womens version for my wife, who was getting back into golf after decade or two break. A lesson and she keeps up with the guys from the women's tees, and hits the fairways most of the time, half the time we'd be taking her shot in a scramble.

My Stealth 2 turned into a punishing dominatrix that forgot the safe-word, so I explored other drivers and ended up with the Cobra DS Adapt Max K and it has been a ligit game changer for me. Instantly dropped my score by 5-7 strokes playing fairways waaayy more than used to and is every bit as long in the screws than the Stealth 2, maybe longer on average with a more penetrating flight into the wind. Again, may not be for you coming from the TSi3, but its a unicorn of sorts because it hits a better spin rate with the right shaft, and insanely forgiving.

I would say if you are looking for an inexpensive alternative the Darkspeed line would be a good "gamble" at that price point, but the Future Fit with 33 adjustments in the current line would allow for a LOT of adjustment if you have swing changes over the next few years.

Yeah, feels like staying with Titleist might be the lower hanging fruit, but it's not as forgiving on off days. I would like to try the Darkspeed series at the price point. If I don't like it, can easily sell for near what I paid. I can get custom out the door for under $325 shipped right now.

Thanks guys, this is helpful.

Zgolf,

You can order online, but the fitters at places like Edwin Watts (especially the one in Houston) are good for what you are wanting and they can probably use their last-year stuff and fit you into a stock shaft that works for you for no extra charge on that Darkspeed.

I know firsthand, that the Cobra DS Adapt had two stock stiff shafts available, and the one that is "shelf" was not the one for me, and the other selection was nails. Had to wait a whole 3 days from the shelf offering, but was no upcharge. Fitting was "free". Lots of folk don't realize that with E Watts, fittings are zero cost upcharge to put one into stock offering shafts and lengths, but they are.

E Watts in Houston has at least one Master Fitter and he is the one that figured it out for me. Why guess if this service is at no cost?
