This past weekend on a buddy's bachelor party I had just hit my shot and was watching another member of my group tee off when I got hit by a screaming drive straight into my ribs. No fore call at all. We were about 140 yards away from the other tee box with a couple trees between the two. The group that hit me just drove down the fairway and never looked our direction. Ran into them a few holes later and one of the guys I was playing with gave it to them for a bit and they denied even hitting into our group. When we were on the tee that they hit me from you could clearly see where I was standing when I got hit. All good, just a nasty bruise, but it lead me to think what should you do if you hit someone like that? I feel at a minimum a "Sorry, that was a bad drive here's a couple of beers."

Side note, if you are ever around Gulf Shores, Alabama, Kiva Dunes is a great round.

Should have gone Tamasky on em!

Kidding aside, they should have yelled fore an offered an apology - stuff happens. Played on Saturday and two of the four in the group got hit by wayward shots from the group behind. Once when we were on the next tee box and someone flew the green on a par 3 and a second time on a tee box which was parallel to the previous hole's green and someone hit a big slice. Clowns.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

I try not to get too worked up on the course, but the no fore call stuff is where I make an exception....and that goes x1000 if you get hit. The fact they didn't acknowledge it is wild. Props to your group for not going full blown fisticuffs....that's a pretty tame bachelor party.

Getting hit with a ball, especially with driver is simply something that can change someone's life permanently. They should have immediately acknowledged it, asked for forgiveness and bought you a drink or two. Unreal man, glad you're alright.

I've hit plenty of balls that I couldn't see because of the sun or whatever. But the guy should've at least apologize for hitting you. That's just what a proper adult would do.

I was going to yell fore, but I was too busy mumbling "there ain't no way that's going to hit that guy".

Playing on 18 Saturday and guy #1 on 1 hits and lands on the cart path near me. I duck my head and cover with my arms before thinking "damn I look dumb". Stand back over my ball (18 fairway) and guy #2 lands about 20 yards in front of me. No "fore".

Clowns.

That said, I was about a buck fifty to the 1 tee box and 50 yards right. So. Yeah. Probably not going to hurt as much as OP.

Id pick up their balls and throw them into the bunker at that point. or hit the balls back towards them.

Only somewhat related -- But, this past weekend, there were two kids (maybe 8-10 yrs old) walking around the course I was playing. At least on two holes, they were running out and grabbing the balls that the group behind us were hitting. They said they didn't know what to do "because they are kids." I'll probably never witness that again.

I told a guy i was going to aim at the guy on the green at Bali Hai #1 a few years back. They were a part of our 16 person group.

I hit my drive thinking no chance it would get to the green. I hit my buddy right in the side of the leg and it settled a few feet from the hole. They all cheered...luckily no one was hurt.

i'd recommend shaking off the hit. not worth getting upset about then or now.

Given that you were standing on the tee box area you definitely should expect a "fore" call and an apology. It amazes me when I see guys who don't pay attention to their playing partners' shots and/or guys who don't scope out the area before they swing their driver. Have to assume everything in front of you is in play. Now, I think we have all lost one in the sun before, but I would definitely be scanning the area to see if anyone was the victim of an errant tee shot and it sounds like ya'll would be pretty visible to them.

On a side note, my local course is notorious for having a problem with trespassers fishing (mostly kids). It doesn't bother me at all, but I always worry one of them is going to get knocked out one of these days

If it was a Pinnacle or Top Flite, yeah, I'll chunk it in the bunker. But if was a Pro V1, I'm keeping it. That's $5 right there.

I have a buddy that has a good "here's when I took up golf 40 years ago" story. His family moved to the neighborhood by Sherrill Park in Richardson. He and his brother (both 7-10 years old) would play in the creek that runs through the course and fish lost golf balls out of it, but they didn't know **** about golf. Then one day they get the brilliant idea to grab balls off the green that were just hit (par 3 #12 on course 2 for those familiar with Sherrill).

The head pro gets called out there, busts them, but instead of losing his **** on them, he drives them up to the driving range. He grabs a couple of golf clubs from the "lost and found" bin, gets a bucket of range balls, and says "if I ever see you out here again, it better be right here". They both take up the game, later become sub 5 handicaps, and have now been playing for 40 years.

Insert cool story bruh

You could always do this.

crap couldn't get it to load. It was the scene from Sideways when they're hit in to and Thomas Hayden Church chases the guy away with his driver.

I hit a 295 yard 3 wood into a par 5. Never hit that club more than 235 in my life before or after. It bounced just short and hoped up on to the green. A ladies golf group of 65-75 year old women went ballistic and waited on the green. The rest of my group couldn't hit because they wouldn't leave the green. I drove up to apologize but they wouldn't let me approach them. Kept saying stay away the cops are coming. Of course, the cops never showed up and they eventually went on to the next hole. My buddy told them they should play quick with a wave and a practice swing.

Honestly not coming to check on you is way worse than not screaming fore. It's not worth fighting over but someone in your group should have hit it back at them with an iron. If they came over to start something, then maybe you had no choice but to deal with them.

My daughter was playing with me once…course was backed up and we were right on the group in front of us. Guy behind us could clearly see us and drove his ball…went right by her at about 95 mph…we were only 270 from the tee box. Yeah, I did a quick sprint for a quick chat. Haven't been that mad in a long time.

Does nobody hit the ball back anymore when someone hits into you? At a minimum either pick it up and keep it or hit it into a lake or pond?

Too late now but once you realized you were ok…you and your buddies should have played it up ….. with you writhing in pain and your buddies freaking out!

I mean, if you want to be a badass, just go back there and kick his ass. Hitting it back is so passive aggressive.

If not, just go on about your round.

Been probably 25 years since I did this, and it was after someone hit into us before we cleared the fairway on a layup hole that was probably a 4-5 iron off the tee. No idea what they were thinking. I pulled 3 wood and sent it back directly over their heads. Maybe my best shot all day, split those tees as if they were uprights.

Hitting it back is passive aggressive? That's a new definition of passive to me.

I sure didn't feel passive aggressive when I alpha'd that **** directly over their heads and then stood there admiring my work. It was an invitation. One they didn't take me/us up on

Because everybody knows you're just gonna either chunk it or slice it so zero chance of hitting them with the ball.

That's passive. Fake tough.
