You going to bring your own sticks for one round? I have wrestled with that decision myself a couple times. My decision has become one round and I rent. More than one and I bring my weapons. I dislike rental clubs, so it usually becomes only one round and I will just go fishing instead of golf that trip. Maybe I need to revisit my decision matrix.

1 round I rent as well. I cant fish bc I chum the whole time. No sea legs due to no inner ear on the right side.

No info on either of those, as I played Del Sol when I went.

However, don't be scared to rent clubs. I did since I was only playing one round and was given a new set of P790s and Sim2 woods/driver with stiff shafts. It looked like I was the first person to play them.

Cabo Real is an awesome course, but I haven't played Solmar, so can't compare.

solmar is nice, but tough. we played a few months ago with winds at a constant 25+ and gusts up to 40+. balls rolled off greens multiple times, and there are a few holes where the sand off the dunes is blinding (no wind shields on the carts). definitely bring glasses of some type.

rental clubs were nice. mixed drinks on the course were pretty weak though.

I did Cabo Real last year. It was right by my hotel. I had a really good time and the staff was super friendly. It was good course but not the most memorable in the world by any means.

Rentals were a decent full bag of Callaway, kind of game improvement irons but did the job.

This par 3 was cool, had a big drop off overlooking the ocean and rosewood.

Thank you sir. How many holes had ocean type views? That's kinda where I want to lean.

Check out the parent group that runs Cabo Real - they offer a package (or at least used to) where you could play 3 rounds for one flat fee. That also includes 1 at Puerto Los Cabos that is a bit more upscale of a course with all-inclusive food/drink stops every few holes.

Its been about 3 years but was a really great experience when I went a few years ago.

EDIT: Just saw you mentioned only time for 1 round.. hands down I'd go with Puerto Los Cabos and make sure you get on the Ocean course as 4,5,6 all run along the beach if I am remembering correctly.

I just switched my reservation to Puerto Los Cabos. Thank you for the recommendation.

Currently says Ocean/Vista.

Puerto Los Cabos was a fantastic day. At the time I played they only had 18. If at all possible, I'd see if they could set you up with Mission-Ocean.

Mission has a par 3 (#6) that is absolutely spectacular with a huge elevation drop. And the par 5 right after is incredible too, sweeping down the hill with an "infinity green" towards the Pacific.

"Vista" wasn't open yet, and I'm sure it's a good 9, but I think that is the inland 9 of the 3.

Nice! You're gonna love it.

I forgot to mention on that par 3 6th hole on Mission, you get a panoramic off the hill/mountain of the Pacific as the backdrop. Truly stunning.

I've got to get back down that way sooner rather than later.

The view from that tee box was my phone wallpaper for a while. 210 yd 7-iron with that elevation!

Be sure to get the Cadillac margarita at the comfort stations!

I much prefer Solmar to Puerto and Cabo Real. It's a tough course and pretty wild terrain with the massive sand dunes. They have to move sand around year round as the dunes just get blown by the wind nonstop.

Few more penalties by the O line and we can ask the coaching staff some questions in the offseason about these courses

When are you playing it? I may play it in December and interested in course conditions. I played it about 5 years ago and it was awesome. (Comfort stations are legit)

McGibblets username checks out.

Sorry to hear that, because Cabo is some of the best fishing you'd ever find.

However, as an experienced fisher down there.....

Never been seasick on offshore trips, anywhere in any sized boat. But when we took the 22 ft. panga out for trophy Roosterfish several years ago, we went 'round Lands End up the coast about 5 miles. That one almost got me. Thankfully the wife unit had slipped a few Bonine in the backpack. Caught 3 trophy Roosters. Fight like HECK! Wear your butt out on medium spin gear.

Forgot this was the Golf Forum. Caught those just up the coast from a beautiful course with a fairway coming down the cliffs, thinking how I would love to play that course......and overshoot that green right into the Pacific, then seeking out the F-golf thread...
"Green" is the new RED.

PLC was in great shape. Food and drinks every 4 holes was on point. Felt like we had water views 13 out of 18 holes. Thanks for the rec gents!
